Tasty Tuesday - BBQ Pulled Pork

Slowcooker BBQ Pulled Pork

You guys!! The Hubs & I made the easiest pulled pork bbq sandwiches for lunch Sunday! The best part about slowcooker meals is that you toss it into the slow cooker and proceed to church or work.  And when you get home, lunch is ready to eat!  There's nothing I hate more than rushing home and trying to frantically cook up a meal when the kids are whining that they're hungry. I need to try one of those "slow cooker meals every day for a year" projects. =)

Photo and original recipe found here.  My variation is below.

Here's what you'll need:

2lb pork butt
one onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic
1 1/2 tbsp ground mustard
salt & pepper
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
24 ounces of Dr. Pepper
Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce

First, you put the chopped onion into the slow cooker.  Then you season the pork.  Sprinkle the seasonings all over the meat and rub it in really well.  Then place the meat in the slow cooker and add the Dr. Pepper and W-sauce.  Cook on high for about five hours, until it can be easily shredded.

After it's cooked, take the meat out, shred it and put it into a bowl.  Add the BBQ sauce and then slap some on a bun and enjoy! =)

We love a good pulled pork sandwich, and a good slow cooker meal! The mister never really pays attention when I'm reading blogs, but "Dr. Pepper" caught his eye... too bad we just came back from grocery shopping!

I don't eat meat anymore, but this looks delicious! I've been a veggie for 2.5 months and I hadn't missed meat at all, but I told my hubby today that it's really going to hurt not eating corned beef and cabbage!
