Fly, Flyaway

I've worn this olive green dress a number of times: here with boots and a button-up, here with pink accents and leopard print peep-toe flats, here with neutral accessories, and here with cowboy boots. It's one of those dresses that is just baggy enough to be comfortable, but a belt gives it just enough structure to keep it from looking shapeless.  I had never thought to pair it with a fly away cardi though, probably because I thought it might be too much material and baggyness in the same outfit, but I think it works... What do you think?

Dress ($10) & Cardi ($7): maurices
Belt: Target ($6)
Sandals: Boutique in New Orleans ($10)

Pink Hair Barrette: Target, Baby's Department ;)

I really love these sandals! I have a feeling I'm going to wear the heck out of them this spring and summer . . . and with the way the weather is in Florida, probably during the fall, too!

I think the subtle snakeskin pattern is my favorite thing about them.

Looking at these pictures, I think this outfit could have used a pendant necklace or a long chain necklace of some sort...

Now, if you've made it through this ridiculous amount of pictures of an eh-okay outfit, and you're still hanging in there, I applaud you! And I want to reward you with a recipe for mouth-watering french toast!

Okay, I admit, it doesn't look like much, but it consists of brown sugar, butter, apples and french bread . . . it was amazingly delicious! I whipped it up really quickly Saturday night and then popped in the oven Easter morning while coffee was brewing. Aaah, so good and incredibly easy! If you're in my Sunday School class, I can pretty much promise you that this is what we'll be having next time I'm the one bringing breakfast! You can find the recipe here.

I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

It's so easy to think "baggy + baggy = bad" but they flow the same way, so it's not any extra bagginess. You're totally right - add a belt and you're set! If you're doing a necklace with the outfit in the future, pull some of the colour from the bracelets - they're my favourite part of the outfit!

I like it too. It's flowy, not baggy - especially with the belt. It's nice that the dress is so versatile, I'd like more pieces like that in my wardrobe.

The belt totally reigns in any extra flowyness from the dress and cardi...I think it looks great! I love those sandals...definitely a summer staple!!

You look adorable! I've terrible through most of my life about thinking that clothes that cling to me actually fit. It was a whole internal What Not to Wear moment!

I think the cardi looks great with this dress, probably because you had the foresight to belt it. Belts are the 8th wonder of the world. Well, maybe mascara, then surely belts.

The belt definitely anchors it all down making the outfit easy and breezy.
I LOVE french toast. Can you fly over and cook breakfast for us please?

French toast is my weakness!!! YUM!

And I DO think the vest works with the skirt - the belt did the trick! Such a cute back design too!
