This Body of Mine

For the longest time, this body and I have had a bit of a love/hate relationship. There have been days when I hated every little thing about it. And there have been days when I was in awe of what this body could do. But there have also been days when this body (or actually, I guess it was the scale) made me want to cry. Then again, there have been days when I've been pretty happy with this body of mine.

"Love" seems like such a strong word. I love my kids. I love my husband. I love Mexican food. Wait, okay, I don't love Mexican food as much as I love the Hubs and the kidlets.  But you get my drift... Love seems like too strong of a word to describe how I feel about my body, right?!?

However, when I look back at what this body of mine has done, I can't help but thank God for it! This body has harbored and grown two of the sweetest kids in the world.

Pregnant with Little Missy at about 34 Weeks

This mushy midsection I have doesn't at all resemble the tight abs I had when I got married . . . but it sure does make a soft pillow for my Little Guy's head when he's not feeling well.  My body will never be the same as it was before giving birth, but it fed both of my babies and gave them all of the vitamins and nutrients that only breast milk can.

Working out on my honeymoon in 2005 (the date on the pic is wrong)

These legs aren't long and willowy like Stacy Keibler's, but they get the job done. They can run when I make them. I'm fortunate enough to have excellent health. Sure, I get the occasional cold or sore throat, but that's nothing to complain about when you see people fighting for their lives.

It's not perfect, but it's the body God gave me and I love it! Too many women and girls pick apart their bodies every day. I'm working hard on changing my own personal perspective because I don't want my daughter to grow up thinking she has to be skinny or look a certain way to be pretty.  Instead of trying to "get skinny", I'm working out to be healthy and eating right for the same reasons. I want My Little Miss to grow up, knowing that God made her in his image and she is perfect that way!  No matter what you look like, remember that your body can do amazing things. We should embrace these bodies God gave us and not be so hard on ourselves!

So, instead of focusing on what you dislike about yourself, tell me, what do you love about your body?  Is there a certain feature you really like? Or are you amazed by something your body has done?
