OTI - Grace's Pick

This is the second day of Open to Interpretation and the look we are to interpret was chosen by Grace.  I adore Grace. Seriously, she's so witty and clever and cute. And she picked out an adorable look to inspire us!

However, when I interpreted the outfit, I basically just copied its baggyness. And baggy, shapeless outfits just aren't that great on me. I blame it on my curves. You can go here to see Grace's choice and to see how other bloggers have gotten inspired by it!

Shirt, Tank, Sandals: Target
Skirt: Maurices
Bling: Mostly Target, Some Bealls =)

Originally, I thought that combining the baggy summer sweater with the printed skirt was a winning interpretation of Reese's effortlessly chic style, but I was proven wrong. =) Oh, well, it happens.

Have you ever worn something you thought worked and it turned out that . . . well, it didn't? =)

I'm also participating today in Trends Fashion Challenge.  Today's prompt was to wear platforms or flats. I chose flats.  There's nothing quite like playing it safe in the shoe department to balance out an overly baggy skirt and top. =)

OTI - Erica's Pick

I'm participating in Open to Interpretation this week! OTI is a fun little event that Kayla dreamed up where she and a few other bloggers choose a picture from around the interwebs and use it to inspire their own looks.  Today's look was chosen by Erica .

You can hop over to Erica's blog to see the look she chose and to see how other bloggers around the world are making it their own!

Shirt: Thrifted
Tennies: TJMaxx
Neon Jeans: NY&Co

I'm not  very creative, I guess. I basically just copied the look exactly, with the exception of a hat.  In my Little Guy's own words, "Momma, you look like a boy when you wear a hat!" So, no hats for me. =)

Belt, Bracelets, Necklace & Ring: Take a guess.... Target! ;)

One thing that this event did challenge me to do is wear some cute tennis shoes! I have a few pair that simply never get any use.  I felt very much like a tomboy all day. =)

Do you use photos you see around the internet or in fashion magazines to inspire your own looks?

I'm also participating this week in the Trends Fashion Challenge hosted by Keely and Megan. Today's prompt was to wear solid brights or bold print.  Obviously, I went with the solid brights. =)

Finally, I'm linking up with the lovely ladies at Monday Mingle!

Fashion Challenge - Pop Goes the Weasel

Or the pink top. =) Today's challenge from Keely and Megan was to wear neutrals with a pop of color. So here it is. Black and grey with a pop of a pink shirt.

Faux Leather Moto jacket: Rue 21 (Gift)
Shirt: Maurices ($7)
Jeggings: Target ($4)
Boots: JCPenney ($30)
Jewelry: Borrowed from my Sister

I actually love everything about this outfit! Especially my new boots! I got them on Black Friday from JCPenney and I love and adore them. =)  They're supposed to be a Christmas present.... In fact, I've already put them back in their box, so that we can wrap them up and open them (again) on Christmas morning. ;)

I hope you're all having a fabulously wonderful weekend! Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already!!

Fashion Challenge - Navy

I had been planning to participate in Keely's and Megan's Fashion Challenge all week. The challenge for the week has been to style a neutral color each day. Monday was black; Tuesday was gray; Wednesday was brown and Thursday was cognac. However, I just wasn't feeling inspired by the neutral pieces in my closet. =/  Like what I wore today.  The challenge was to make Navy the focal point of your look.  Well, all I have that is navy is this pair of pants and this is what I came up with.

Shirt: Old Navy (Ages & ages ago ?$)
Pants: American Eagle (Handed Down from Sis)
Belt: Target ($6)
All Jewelry: Borrowed from Sis
Shoes: Rsvp from 6pm.com ($6.95)

It's nothing jaw-dropping or inspiring, but I thought I'd post it anyways. I mean, it's real life, right? =)

Guess what? I guest posted over at My Southern Fried Christian Life about Christmas! Go check it out!

And if you haven't already entered, head on over and enter my giveaway!!

Do teeny tiny black sequins count as sparkles?

If so, then I totally qualify for the fashion challenge today! This is literally the only item in my closet with "sparkles".  Let me preface this post by saying, I do not love this outfit. It's kind of "blah". I've seen sparkles done much better. In fact, if I had paired a tank like Heather's at H&K Style Journey, then I think it would have really taken the outfit to another level.
Bobo is trying to get in the picture again.

I wore this Sunday afternoon, while my Little Guy and I went on a date. Yep, you heard me, his very first date. =) We went to his favorite place ever, Baskin Robbins, and I got to get my caffeine fix with a Mocha Blast. It was a win win! =)
Shirt: Target
Tank: Express
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes (pictured below): My sister's
Belt: Bealls
Oh! I totally forgot that my flips had sparkles on them, too!

If you want to see how other bloggers are wearing sparkles today, then go HERE!

Military + Feminine = This?

As you know, I'm participating in a fashion challenge put on by Casual Chic Kiki and Megan Mae Daily.  Today's challenge is to combine the military trend with something feminine.

This was a tough one for me. Maybe it's because I was all confused and thought today was "Go Neutral." Several sweet bloggers corrected me yesterday!  Ha, anyways at the last minute I had to throw something together.  This shirt is the only military inspired item I could come up with between me and my sister.
Here's what I did with it:

Shirt: My sister's
Tank: Express
Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: www.6pm.com
Ring: Premier Design Jewelry
Bracelets: Target
Scarf as a Belt: Ooh La La (a local boutique)

Check it out! I also did a little pattern mixing with the flowers and stripes!

Trends: Flowers & Stripes

First, I wanted to say hello to my new followers and welcome!! I really appreciate all of you tagging along on this fun little journey of mine! =)

I'm participating in a fashion challenge put on by Casual Chic Kiki and Megan Mae Daily.  Each day will feature a different trend. This is fun for me because I'm not really a huge fan of taking risks and following this summer's trends require a few risks on my part!

Today's trend is flowers and stripes. If I'm being honest here, I didn't actually wear this today. I wore it one day last week in anticipation of the challenge because I rarely ever get to blog about an outfit on the day I wear it. You know how sometimes an outfit looks better in real life than it does in the pictures? Well, occasionally (ahem, today!), an outfit looks better in the picture than it does in real life. I absolutely love it . . . in the picture. In real life, the dress kept scrunching up and making the belt tighter and made it look like I had fat rolls. (Umm, okay, I do, but I don't like to advertise them!)  And the sleeves of the cardigan got really loose and baggy after a while.

Enough of my ramblings. I'm sure you're eager to know just how it all turned out. =)

Dress: My sister's
Cardigan, Jewelry & Belt: Target
Shoes: rsvp from 6pm.com

Despite the ramblings above, here are the things I loved about the outfit: the colors! I absolutely loved the yellow and orange and shades of blue. In fact, I'm actually meeting two challenges today. A few months back, Kish challenged me to wear this yellow cardi with my turquoise shoes and I finally worked up the nerve! =)

If you feel like you want to see a list of all the bloggers participating and see how they're styling the trends, then go HERE.  Have a Happy Monday!

Oh, and one last thing... tomorrow is all about neutrals. In your opinion, is grey and black neutral? If so, then I'm all set! If not, then I have to do some thinking as to how I'm going to qualify for that one!

And one more last thing. =) I'm also linking up with Mimi's Many Layers Mondays!
