Is there such a thing as being allergic to your birthday? No, I'm not talking about myself... I have happily made it into my 30's and I don't mind getting older. I'm talking about my dear three-year old. That poor boy has rotten luck with birthdays!
When he was turning one, he caught a stomach bug and we had to postpone his party. When he was turning two, we all got sick about two weeks before his birthday, so Pshew!! We made it through that one without having to change any plans. This year, Gabe got sick two days before his party was originally planned (and was actually sick the day of his birthday), so we postponed his party for one week. To today, actually.
Even though we couldn't have the party at the park as we originally planned, things were moving along rather nicely. The kids were having fun in the kiddie pool, the parents were all chatting nicely and having a great time watching the kids act like crazy little monkeys...
And then . . . about halfway through the party, Gabe started acting incredibly clingy. I thought he might be a bit overwhelmed. He made it through cake and ice cream (although he only ate a few bites). He made it through opening his presents (although he sat on my lap for most of it). He almost made it through the entire party. But just before everyone was leaving, he lost his lunch. And the cake and ice cream he had eaten. And all the juice he had consumed that morning.
My poor little guy is going to dread every birthday if this is what continues to happen!
He did love the whole "Toy Story" theme though. He adores Buzz.
I was going to make cupcakes to accompany the cake we ordered and decorate them to look like the little aliens in the movie, but it turned out that the cake was big enough to feed everyone and we didn't need them. My thought was then, "Why create more work for myself if I don't have to?" =)
So, that was pretty much my Saturday. Well, that and a bit of thrifting! I can't wait to show you the super cute dresses I found while thrifting this afternoon. Two dresses, a skirt and two belts and I only spent $20.00!
I hope the rest of you all had an amazing Saturday and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh your poor baby. That does suck. HOpe it is not a trend that continues. Happy 3rd b-day regardless though.

Oh, poor baby! Well, maybe he will forget these birthdays and hopefully birthday number 3 goes much better
Oh no! Hope he's okay today! The cake is pretty awesome. (My three year-old is sitting next to me right now and he just said, "WOW TOY STORY!" Needless to say you have impressed Jack.)
is your son in preschool yet? with all the preschool germs that get recycled, we not only are allergic to birthdays, but also holidays, 'student of the week' weeks (this was a total bummer), vacations, you name it!
sending well wishes!

Poor buddy! Happy Birthday to Gabe. Hope he's feeling better!
That is so sad...poor baby! At least he got a chance to enjoy some of it! So, since this is the third time this has happened, we're gonna say that he's now "struck out" as far as having any more sick b-days! Or maybe, "three times the charm" to overcome his bad-luck b-days?? Anyway, next year WILL be better!
Awww, poor little guy. Birthdays aren't just meant to be. But, the other 364 days of the year are his :) No worries, he'll have a lifetime to conquer this allergy!
Poor guy! That is not a fun way to spend a birthday at all! I hope he's feeling better, though.
Can't wait to see your thrifting finds :)
