I am Number Four & A Somewhat Patriotic Outfit

The other night, Nate & I watched I Am Number Four. Big mistake. It was so lame. The basic premise of the story was decent. You know, good aliens living among us (kinda like Superman), who are supposed to help save us from the bad aliens. Well, this movie was full of all kinds of teen angst. First love, jealousy, popular kids v. the nerd...  The only thing John Smith, played by Alex Pettyfer, could bring to the movie was his smolder. You know, that head down, look up at you with burning eyes type of smolder. That was it. His lines were said in the most monotone voice ever. And don't even get me started on Number Six, played by Teresa Palmer.  Based on her totally whack accent, we couldn't tell if she was supposed to be from Tennessee or from Australia!

All in all, it's definitely a movie geared for tweens, but unlike Twilight, which was able to capture the interest of all ages and sexes, this one kind of failed. My guy was bored about halfway through the movie and begged me to turn it off, but even though I was making fun of their lack of acting skills the entire time, I still wanted to see how it ended. The book has got to be better than the movie! I liked the basic story line enough that I just may see if I can find the books to read.

And here is what I wore while kicking back at a cookout with the family Sunday afternoon... I tried to get into the spirit of things with a sort of red, white and blue look. And I really loved the big baggy shirt, with the linen shorts. It was very laid back and comfortable.

Shirt and sunglasses: Target
Tank: Express
Shorts: Old Navy
Shoes: My sis

I apologize for the blurry picture. =/ My sister took this picture this evening and my flash didn't go off. I thought it was because the flash wasn't necessary. It turns out it was because of a setting I had turned on. Eesh. I'm still learning how to use my new camera!

And . . . check out my nail art! lol I went for a manicure and pedicure Friday afternoon. I was inspired by Lissa last week when she tweeted about color blocking her nails. That reminded me about a post I had read on oomph where she color blocked her nails. So I was all ready to copy her, until I led the lady at the salon talk me into some nail art.  Without further ado, here are they are!

I think the design takes away from the whole "color blocking" thing I was going for, but I kind of like it anyways.

I love the nails...so pretty!

Even a bad movie needs a resolution, so I don't blame you for wanting to finish it. At least you were being stubborn about a bad movie with your husband...you should see me fighting Brigid's waning interest in certain books just to get to the end of the story...I just can't be left hanging :)
