Yes, I accidentally chopped my head off... I'm still learning my way around working the camera without a photographer.
Red gingham shirt & black skinny jeans: Old Navy
Tough necklace & bracelets: Target
Turquoise rsvp heels: 6pm.com
I think I just might be glaring in my little man's direction because I'm pretty sure at some point during this "photo shoot", he was harassing his sister.
Last time I wore this shirt to work, my boss took one look at me, laughed and said, "You look like you're going square dancing!" Hmmm... that day, I had paired it with khaki pants, so I figured I needed to do something different today. Hence, the skinny jeans, tough accessories and turqoise heels. Tiffany at A Reason to Be Fabulous inspired me to try mixing these two colors. Every time I visit her blog, I'm inspired to try different things with colors. I don't always follow through because more often than not, I run back to my comfort zone... but she has a way with colors that is, well, in a word, fabulous!
Anyways, today, when my sweet hubby first saw what I was wearing, he was thrilled. He loves the shirt. (He loves me in anything laid back and casual.) Then he saw the skinny jeans and liked them, too. Then he saw the heels and said, "Whoa! I don't know about that, babe. Blue heels with that shirt?" Well, he's color blind anyways, so his vote doesn't count. =)
What do you guys think? Was it too big of a risk or does it work in an unexpected way?
And just to share . . . this morning, my three-year old was eating grapes. He kept giving them to me one at a time. I was wondering why he was sharing. (Usually, he's a little grape hog.) Finally, he said, "Here, mom, you can have the last one. Grapes make babies." Hmmm... I think I better stay away from those grapes!

I would love to hear the 3-year-old line of logic that took him to eating grapes = making babies. I love it!
Red and turquoise is my absolute favorite color combination ever. So of course I think you look fabulous! I'm actually trying to come up with a color that I don't think looks good with turquoise. Aaaand drawing a blank.

I totally have a pic of your inspiration outfit (the turquoise dress with the red pops of color, right?) in my pinterest. You and me, we're on the same wavelength. I adore this color combo and have only done it once with a red shirt and a turquoise necklace. I need to do it again on a grander scale!
Grapes make babies. I love three year-olds. Today mine announced from the backseat of the car that his brother's kindergarten teacher was "Mrs Terrorist." At least that's what it sounded like. Her real name is Mrs Harris but maybe Jack knows something the rest of us don't.
How funny that we're both reading each other's post almost at the same time and nearly wearing the same outfits...obviously, great minds DO think alike!!! (wink, wink!)
This is one of my favorite outfits on you!
You gotta love the mind of a 3 year old! He could be on to something that the rest of us have yet to realize...and if that's the case, you may want to ask him just how many grapes does it really take...didn't you have a few of 'em...???....hmmm???.... ;)
i think i too better stay away from those grapes :)
LOVE the red gingham. sooo not too much, but you're asking someone who wears mint colored jeans and a bright yellow lace skirt (though not together!). i love the outfit!

You get a gold star for stepping out of your comfort zone, cause this outfit looks fabulous on you! Love how you've added the 'tough' accessories to make it less square dancy :)

Love the colors and the pairing of blue shoes under this. So cute. I can totally see the boss's comment when it was with khaki's.

i love red and teal together. you look fabulous!
I totally would have never thought to pair red gingham and the turquoise shoes together, but I really like how it turned out! You look great, and who cares what husbands say, right? ;)
Love it!! Turquoise goes with everything!! :o)
i love the color combo! i am definitely a sucker for mixing and matching, though. great job going out on a limb!

Very Cute! I love those shoes and seriously what would they not go with.
Hmmm... I would love to know where the grapes make babies came from? How funny. My munchkin too is a huge grape hog. Apparently they are fun to eat. :)
hey I like the turquoise heels with the red shirt :) I like color mixing!!
No way, it's not too much at all! I adore this color combination, and I think you look fabulous in this outfit :) I love the gingham shirt paired with the skinny pants, too.
And it sounds like someone may be angling for a new sibling, huh? Too funny :)
OH YEAH, girl. this outfit is fabulousness! i think red and turquoise is a heaven-sent color combo. honestly. you look faboo.
