The Shopping Ban - And It Continues

I'm still going strong and I think it's because I've "cheated." My birthday was yesterday and I did buy myself a few things.  When I say "buy myself", I simply mean that I picked them out. They're really from the Hubs.  I got the gray booties I wore yesterday and the pair of boots and shoes seen below. It was suggested that I get jewelry and how I wish I could have! But we're on a budget, so I've got to be practical!

I also got a gift card to Target from the boss. Of course, I went to Target on my lunch break yesterday and started browsing. I did pick myself up one shirt. Then I got to thinking... You know, it's the kids and my sweet hubs that make my birthday (and every other day of my life, for that matter!) so special. So, I shopped for them. I bought my husband a shirt and I bought Little Guy a doctor set and Little Miss a singing microphone. So, after dinner, I surprised them all with their loot.  The hubs & I took turns singing and dancing and playing patient with the kiddies. It was the perfect little birthday celebration!

Of course, I'm reserving the right to continue celebrating all weekend long. =) My mom is coming in town, so here's hoping we girls can get away at some point for a little bit of kid free fun!

Okay, back to the shopping ban or the more fitting title of the 100 Day Stretch. We're on Day 7 and I'm doing pretty good. I'm actually looking forward to having no more excuses and seeing how strong I can be when I venture into Target. I'm not even planning to visit Maurices or TJMaxx or I'd surely cave to temptation!  I'll try to keep you posted each week on how it's going!

I hope you all have a fun weekend!

What a sweet way to celebrate your birthday!

Good thing you and me are just going to lunch next week and not going on a shopping date. ;)

Have a great weekend, girl!

Aww! That is so sweet you shopped for the hubs and kids on your own birthday. It sounds like a wonderful birthday at home!

I am rooting for you and your no shopping ban. You have some strong willpower to go into Target and not buy anything! It's too tempting.

Here's to hoping you have a fun filled weekend! Heather

Happy late birthday, cuteness! :)

I'm doing pretty well with the no shopping ban--mostly because I have been too busy to shop!

I'm about to break it on a winter coat, though!

Alright...I don't think that getting gifts for your birthday is 'cheating,' so you are still in the shop free zone. That is too nice of you to get sthg for the kids and mr. tiffany (is it OK if I call him that...) lol! HEHEHE enjoy your new shoes and the wknd with your mom!

seriously, the trick to not shopping seems to be not tempting yourself. like not going into any clothing stores or looking online. it's soooo hard and i totally give you props for doing this.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, btw!!! It sounds like it was a good one and I hope you picked out a lot of great stuff from the hubby!!! i love those snakeskin black shoes!

happy birthday! Did you say your birthday was 22 sept? Guess what? So was mine. Haha! I was kind of wondering earlier on if your birthday could be same day as mine. It was so sweet of you to buy presents for your family on your birthday!

Happy birthday! Those shoes are fantastic. You are a WAY more selfless person than I. I would have kept the Target money all for myself!! :)

Nah, you didn't cheat. Cheating would be going to H&M to ransack the new fall arrivals (guilty :O). You shopping for your husband and kids is nothing short of love - and you can sometimes buy that with a little money. I'm rooting for you and your shopping ban!

Can't wait to see those shoes make an appearance on the blog...another great choice :)

I'm glad the shopping ban is still holding up, though...hope there's not too much stress on you right now, because I know how much harder that makes it to avoid retail therapy!

This is going to be a really good challenge for you. I say this because I recently went on a 3 month shopping ban and I have really learned how to curb my shopping AND stack my money up. Good luck hunni :)
