I'm still not shopping!

Can y'all believe it? I'm 24 days into the 100 Day Stretch and I have not caved once. I really have been too terribly tempted.  I am starting to get an itch to go thrifting, but other than that, I'm doing okay.  You know what's crazy? I haven't even done much shopping for the kids. Yesterday, the Hubs was doing the money stuff and he said, "Wow, we kind of have more money than usual for this time of the month." And I'm totally crediting myself for that. Or Misty, since she's the one who came up with this whole Retail Detox thing in the first place. =)

Also, I'm still Blogging for Breast Cancer Awearness and trying to wear pink all month.  Even when I'm not photographing my outfits, I'm trying to wear something pink.  Although I have not been directly affected by breast cancer, I know people who have been.

Dress: Maurices ($10)
Belt, came with a Shirt: Thrifted ($2)
Shoes: 6pm.com ($6.95)
Bracelet & Necklace: Borrowed from My Sister

Well, I hope you're all starting your week out right! Life is good and crazy right now. I'm going back to school for the first time in years and years. The Hubs has his 1/2 Ironman next weekend. I'm trying (and kind of failing) to eat healthy and run on a regular basis. We're enjoying the nice weather and taking the kids to all kinds of fun fall festivities. The kids are growing!! That actually makes me a little bit sad. But all that being said, I'm enjoying every minute of right now.  Yesterday, the Hubs and I were sitting in our very messy playroom watching the kids have fun and we started reminiscing about the days before we had kids when lazy Sunday afternoons literally meant sitting on the couch with a movie or a book and not moving for hours. And then we started reminiscing about the days right after we had Little Guy and he was so tiny and now he's 3 1/2 and literally a KID. Anyways, we came to the conclusion that time passes by so quickly. And one day, we'll be looking back at this time and thinking about how great it was and how much we miss the crazy antics of the kids. It's just really important to enjoy the here and now and not get caught up in what's coming next month or next year.  Hmmm... it seems like  foregoing shopping is causing me to get kinda deep. =)

So, I want to know, what are you enjoying about this stage of your life??

Cute outfit once again! Your shoes are beautiful too. Its so nice to enjoy the little things and reflect. It seems like yesterday Kayla was a baby and now she is all grown up! I try to savor all the moments (mostly crazy and hectic) but its all worth it!

1. love the idea of retail detox. am seriously considering this.
2. love the pink belt with the gray dress.
3. thank you for the reminder to enjoy the "here and now". with the business of life it is so easy to forget that it all goes by much too quickly.

Is it totally lame of me to say that I am enjoying this blog post right now? I dunno, maybe I am getting old and sentimental but I really liked the mental image of you guys sitting there thinking about the good times while enjoying the now times. Single tear!

Great outfit and I love the unexpected pop of pink! I don't own a lot of pink but I'm participating next week and scrounging up all the pieces I can find! I'm at a transitional stage of my life right now so I'm enjoying the freedom and flexibility I have.

I love this plaid dress with the pink belt! I think you are doing an awesome job, 24 days already? I feel like you announced the detox just a week ago! Your kids are growing up fast, and I am glad you are back in school working on that teaching degree! What am I enjoying now, I guess all these wonderful friends I've made through my blog. I never was a real social butterfly...

Awww....I am so feeling what you're saying about watching your kids grow before your eyes.

I was off today, but Preston had school. I took this as an opportunity to have lunch with him (my first time!) at school, and let me tell you...at one point I just sat and stared at him. It was like love/bliss/awe/amazement/butterflies all wrapped up in one. So, yeah. I am enjoying him.

Good to see you, missy! Congrats on your no-shopping streak! You look great!

You're doing well, not buying anything for 24 days! That's no mean feat! I didn't go to the thrift store for a week and I'm itching all over to go to one. Keep it up! Shopping in your closet is a great idea. You look great in that grey dress! The colorful necklace and pink belt add some lovely touches. I'm also sad that my babies have grown up into a 12 and 8 year old. Enjoy your little one 3 1/2 is super cute age.

Love your plaid dress. I'm laughing at your husband's comment about having more money...I can always tell when I'm cutting back some because I have more to spend on others or save. What a concept, huh?! It just takes willpower to make this happen! ugh

Kids just make life wonderful, don't they? I honestly don't know what I'd do without them. I am passed the messy playroom days because mine are older. It does go by so fast. :(
Happy to hear you are doing so well with the challenge! Way to go!!!
