The Long . . . Or the Short of It

This dress is a little too short. It's not scandalous or anything, but it's just a length that I'm not super comfortable in.  I didn't realize it until I was already dressed and running late for work, so I just grabbed the first pair of flats I saw (to me, flats seem to make short skirts seem less short). And yes, they were leopard print. No one's ever accused me of being too matchy matchy, that's for sure!

Dress: Ann Taylor Loft (Handed Down)
Shirt: Target, Men's ($6.98)
Shoes: Maurices ($7)
Bracelet: Target ($4.50-ish)
Ring: Glow Salon ($5)
I really don't like the exposure or lighting or something going on in that picture above, but once I did whatever I did, I wasn't sure how to fix it. lol

See how short it starts to get?  Not that I reach up and scratch my head with both hands on a regular basis, but still . . . =)

Details, details . . .

So, is anyone out there a size 6-ish and wants a free dress from the Loft? To give you an idea of how long it would be on you, I'm 5'3" and a bit.

Well I'm 5'7 so that dress on me would show.. oh everything :) I love the idea of wearing this dress with tights though. I know you live down south, but in a few months tights may be reasonable, and that always makes shorter dresses feel less revealing!

I think the dress still looks lovely on you..for what it's worth! :)

I agree with the above suggestion of just wearing it with tights. Like a solid (as opposed to opaque) color.

Agreed, throw some tights on with it and you will feel a little more covered. :)

Hmmm I don't think this dress is too short, maybe you are just not used to lengths like this? I remember putting on a skirt that was a few inches above the knee a few weeks back thinkin...oh this is short, but my mom looked at me and said...You are not 70, you are fine!

I don't think it looks too short. I love the pattern mixing of the flats. Too cute!

haha.. you're so cute. Doesn't seem too short for me, the length actually looks adorable on you! Your mixing of patterns is cute too, matchy mtchy is boring some times, so welcome quirky chicness!

Cute dress, but I understand being worried about length. I would go with some tights and flats and you would be good to go!

Cute dress! I know what you mean about feeling a little uncovered though. What about leggings or tights with boots? You could turn it into a tunic style top?

In the photos the skirt really doesn't seem that short. But I hate it when that 'raising your arms' thing happens. I'll put on a dress and be like 'oh, this is totally reasonable' but then I can't raise my arms above my head. -_-
If it were my dress I'd think about sewing a little lace trim around the bottom to give yourself an extra inch or two of coverage. If I were a size 6 I'd TOTALLY take it from you :)

I think the dress looks great on you!!! I definitely do the "dress seems longer with flats too"...All the time I'll throw on some flats and magically it feels more appropriate!

I do the same trick of wearing flats when my skirts are too short! Cute look btw!

I also think flats negate the teeny bopper effect of that dress... Love the floral with the leopard and how you knotted the shirt!! Great outfit!!

Aw I don't think it's too short at all! And I definitely agree flats make it seem way less so. Love how you styled it what the shirt on top!

I think it's darling on you and it would totally work with tights!

Ooh we're the same height! I think you look beautiful- it's a great length (I've worn much shorter to work!) and I love the leopard flats- I tend to wear flats with shorter hemlines too. Great pink accessories too :)

I do the same thing with heels/flats.

I, like everyone else, suggest trying tights.

I think it's an adorable little dress! And not too short at all. I am about the same height and always shoot for shorter hemlines since they are a little more flattering for us petite ladies. Longer hems can begin to look awkward. Pair it with a pair of tights or leggings - that might help add a little more coverage. Also love how you paired it with the knotted top - so adorable!

I love it. LOVE IT. If you give it away, I will be sad.
P.S. If you think that is short, you should see the crap I wear. It embarrasses my family.

Oh, I don't think it looks too short, at all! And I definitely agree with some of the other comments that tights would work wonders, if you think you need some added coverage. I have certain dresses that I don't mind wearing to work, but only if I can pair them with tights/boots.

I would definitely hang on to it, though :)
