Tasty Tuesday - Marshmallow Hay Bales & Some New Tights

New Tights

Check it out!! I'm wearing my new mustard colored tights! I absolutely 100% adore them. And I'd wear them over and over again all winter long . . . if I didn't snag them on my desk and get a giant hole in them already. Yeah, so in the trash they've gone.  Since I'm a tights novice (hello, 3rd grade vocabulary word!), I have a question for those of you with some tights wearing experience. What should I do? Keep buying cheap $5 tights from Target and cross my fingers and pray that I don't ruin them? Or invest in some expensive ones and reallly cross my fingers and pray that I don't ruin them?

Dress: Target ($7-ish)
Cardigan: Missoni for Target ($40, I think)
Tights: Target ($5)
Boots: Shoedazzle (Birthday gift)
Necklace: Borrowed from my Sis

You can't really tell in the photos, but there's a thin yellow stripe in the sweater.  I didn't just pull the color mustard out of thin air and say, "Hey, I think I'll totally not match today and wear mustard tights!" =)

Marshmallow Hay Bales

Yesterday, the kids had a Harvest Party at their daycare and we all had to bring treats for the kids to bring home. Well, as if I'm not busy enough with everything going on, I decided to make these adorable candy corn marshmallow pops.  Being the procrastinator that I am, I didn't start shopping for the supplies until Saturday afternoon. Can you imagine the trouble I ran into? Yep, you guessed it, Wal-Mart was all out of the little orange meltable candies and lollipop sticks.  I went to every other store in my immediate area, Publix, Food World, Target, Winn Dixie.  They didn't carry the candies or the lollipop sticks.

Sunday afternoon, I was dreading the 30-ish minute drive to Party City, when the Hubs came to the rescue with a simply brilliant idea.  He suggested that I roll the marshmallows in the yellow candy and then roll them in the rice krispies! Oh, yes, I married that man for a reason. =) But I still needed something to stick into the marshmallows. He then suggested toothpicks. Wellll, I really don't think the parents would appreciate it if I gave their children a treat that could take out an eye, so I nixed that idea. I found a package of multi-colored straws in one of the kitchen drawers and decided to cut the straws in half.  Here's the result of my procrastination and my husband's brilliance. =)

Items Needed:
Marshmallows
Yellow Meltable Candy
Rice Krispies
Straws or Lollipop Sticks
Treat Bags
Ribbon

Last, but not least, we are officially in the season of Thanksgiving!! On that note, I want to say how thankful I am for my Little Guy. He can try my patience to no end and when I lose my cool, I feel like the worst mom ever. But then my sweet guy will come up to me the next day and give me a huge hug and say, "I'm sorry I disobeyed, mama."  *sigh* I love my Little Guy and I'm so thankful for him!

Ok, tights...It does not matter if they are cheap or expensive, they always rip! At least with my experience. Since you live in Florida, not sure if this is worth a try, but sweater tights are the best! They are thick, warm, and don't rip as easy. Also, Kohls tights are pretty good (try the Simply Vera). I have had them for 2 years and they are still kicking.

And your little guy is soooo sweet! Kids really do surprise you don't they? My girls both will do something that pushes me over the edge, but then they look at me with those eyes and I am a goner, lol :) Heather

Love your cardi! I have that one too! Are you off your no-buy or was that an exception since it was limited time and impossible to get!!!

I love your cardigan...I'm jealous of anyone that managed to snag something from the collection...and the tights look fab with it! Personally, I've tried buying more expensive tights and I still ruin them...so not cool!

I swear by Asset tights at Target. They are in the middle price-wise, usually $12. I have had no problems and two pairs (i play it safe with matte black) can hold me over for a couple years.

I don't think it matters how much you pay for tights longevity-wise. The only reason I spring for expensive tights now and again is because they tend to be truly matte, which I like. But mostly it's Target tights. I've had a blue pair from there for 3 years now!

ll us mom's loose our cool with the kids..don't feel bad, it happens!
I buy heavy tights, a bit more expensive. But they are worth it to keep warm in the winter. The cheap ones form Target always seem to run after I wear for me. Those marshmallow haystacks look delicious...great idea from the hubby!

I would keep with the cheaper tights until you are used to wearing them. I actually have a number of cheaper tights that I've kept for several years. If you're ready to try out more expensive ones, check TJ Maxx or Ross or Marshalls where you can get some of the nicer brands at a pretty nice discount. Some of the expensive ones are actually more fragile than the walmart and target ones! And definitely try out the sweater or textured tights - they do hold up better and don't show some of the minor day to day snaggies.

You are adorable as usual!!!

I love this outfit! Everything about it is fantastic. I agree with the comments that sometimes cheaper tights have more staying power.

I am a cheap hoisery person. They always run and I don't see the point in spending $10. I get mine at Marshall's, a pack of 3 for $10 :) Other than that...can I just say how jealous I am that you got that cardigan from the target missoni collaboration!!!!!!! The treats look amazing and I would never know you had run into a bind ;)

Mmmm your marshmallow treats look oh so tasty! I just love your mustard coloured tights and my advice? Cheap pairs because if your're like me, whether they were $5 or $50 you'll prob get a snag in them!

very cute marshmallows and looks yummy! Thanks for sharing the recipe. You look really adorable, the missoni jacket matches your tights for sure, yes, I can see the thin yellow lines. I would say go for the Target tights, wear, tear, throw, simple.

Do you have Marshalls or T.J. Maxx near you? Because if you do you can have the best of both worlds, inexpensive AND good quality!! :D I buy designer brand name tights for like $6-$7 at Marshalls and they haven't ripped yet :)

I love Hue tights, which you can find on sale a lot at Macy's/DSW/any department store. They've survived over-excited greetings from my dogs, so I'm hooked!
