Meet a Friend Monday - Keely

Well, Christmas and New Years have come and gone and Meet a Friend Monday is back! Today I get to introduce you to Keely of Casual Chic Kiki. I met Keely a while back, thanks to the fashion challenges that she hosts with Megan at Megan Mae Daily.  Keely is fun, fierce and a master of making neutrals look anything but boring! Here she is! =)

When Tiffany asked me guest post for her, I was excited and flattered! But then time went on and it came to actually writing this post and I have to say I'm a bit intimated and afraid. This is my very first guest posting opportunity! What am I supposed to say?  Here goes nothin'...

I've been self-style blogging since April 2009. First I was What I Wear in a Little Town. I decided the name didn't suit me anymore and changed it to Casual Chic Kiki in January of 2011. While it's a self-style blog, I like to add a little variety, like DIY's and Foodie posts. Sometimes, when I need to be reminded of how blessed I am I post Cup Full of Gratefulness, where I write down five things I'm grateful for and ask my readers to do the same in the comments. And every so often I get the chance to do a review or a giveaway! Oh, and I can't forget the Fashion Challenges (that's how I found Tiffany!) that I co-host with Megan of Megan Mae Daily. It's a pretty enjoyable and rewarding hobby.

A little bit about me:
  • I've worked in education most of my college/working life. I would much rather work as a stylist or personal shopper or make some sort of art for a living, in addition to someday becoming a mother.
  • I've always loved fashion and photography. I started taking self-portraits, in various outfits, way before it was popular. You know, back when we used 35mm film!
  • I have a green smoothie (almost) every morning for breakfast.
  • I LOVE shoes! I'd buy a fabulous pair of shoes and eat ramen for a week if I was really smitten. (Well, if I didn't have to feed my husband.)
  • I'm a pretty high anxiety person. I like things in their place and can't relax until I know they are there. So, that means I'd rather do it myself then wait for someone else to do it.
  • I'm, almost, too responsible for my own good, always have been, always will be.
  • Also a little too blunt for my own good, trying to work on that one.
  • Oh, on a lighter note. I love changing my hair! Color, length, style. Always evolving!

A few things I've learned from blogging:
  • People in the fashion blogging world are super nice! And I've "met" so many great people around the globe.
  • I like to try new things and remix my clothes so that no two outfits are exactly alike, even if it's a simple shoe change or a cardigan swap.
  • I've become more adventurous in my style by having a blog and reading others blogs and seeing how others are styling themselves.
  • When I tell people what my blog is about and that I take pictures of myself everyday and post them on the internet, they usually give me a weird look. (Ha, me too! I feel like I should be ashamed of it or something. lol) I'm used to it.

Well, thank you Tiffany for this fabulous opportunity to guest post! I hope I haven't rambled on too long. I'd be delighted if you dropped by Casual Chic Kiki. Thanks again, Tiffany!

Cheers to the start of stylish new year!

Adieu!

Now head on over to Casual Chic Kiki and show her some love! =)

Keely's blog is one of the first ones we started reading (even when it was What I Wear in a Small Town) and before we started blogging. Keely is a great casual dresser without ever looking frumpy! Plus, we really enjoy doing the Fashion Challenges too. Good to see Keely over here!

Keely, you did an excellent job! I love your style and your makeup is gorgeous. What really stands out about you is that you are diverse. I like that in a blogger. You discuss different things, which makes you well rounded. :) Great post!

She's fabulous I love it. I think we can all relate to feeling awkward about taking photos and posting on the internet - some people think I've lost it.

I am a fan of your blog through facebook a long time now but i wasn't a follower via GFC which i become just now and i am happy i did cause now i can comment back to your posts.
you see if i like someone's blog i can't stop myself from commenting its like a force driving me to comment more and more lol.
So before i comment on this post let me tell you that Tiffany i love your blog for two reasons:
1 real life fashion, real life proportions. althought i enjoy reading blogs of famous bloggers i know i'll never get the new 500$ bag they have or have karl lagerfeld send me a dress or wear the same shorts they fit in due to their size zero body. you keep it real and i like that.
2 you seem super kind.
Back to your post i love how you and others inteview and blog about your fave blogs this is so kind of you but i can't help but wonder why does everyone interview and feature blogs that blog about their everyday outfits?
what about the other kind of blogs like mine, which blog about editorials and get inspired by fashion without posting their own pictures or outfits.
why don't those kind of blogs get featured? i was just wondering you know...i would like one day to get featured but i don't see that happening.
and i also came up with the conclusion that it is a lot harder to get followers if you have inspirational blogs like mine.
i wonder how sartorialist made it.
sorry for the completely irrevelant and long comment, if you have time to reply and explain to me, since i am still new to blogging i would be so glad.

any comment, word or follow *yeah keep dreaming M* will be appreciated
