Friday's Flavor of the Week & Your Questions, Answered!

Friday's Flavor of the Week

Christian Dior in Waterlily

A few weeks ago, I won this polish from the incredibly sweet Kim at A Very Sweet Blog!  I really like this matte polish. I usually wear polish with a shimmer, so this was a little different for me.  It's actually much prettier in person... I just happen to take terrible photos. lol  In fact, it's so pretty that it prompted attention from strangers! I went to Starbucks last Sunday afternoon. I was sick, had been traveling and was wearing a sweatshirt and a pair of baggy jeans. Trust me, I looked awful! But the girl at the Starbucks counter raved about the pretty color and even called over another girl to see it! =)  So, I give this polish an A+ for prettyness. =)

Your Questions, Answered

Last week, I opened up my little blog to your questions and now it's time to answer them!  Before I start, I didn't want to bore you with a wordy post and no pictures, so I added some photos of my kids when they were babies. =)  Everyone likes babies, right?

From CC: How did you meet your hubby and how long have you been married?
Well, I first met the Hubs the summer between my sophomore and junior year. We both attended Pensacola Christian College and I stayed there that summer so that I could work on campus and save a little money.  I became friends with a girl in my dorm that was dating this incredibly cute guy . . . long story short, I met him, stole him and the rest was history. ;) Ha! I'm totally kidding! I did meet him while they were dating. But! Then they broke up, a year or so passed and we reconnected over his torn knee cartilage (he was a wrestler and got injured) and my computer class (he was a computer science major and I sucked at computers!). We quickly fell madly in love and knew we were destined to be together. ;) Then we dated forever and ever before finally getting married. So, we've been together for ten years, and married for seven.

The Hubs & Little Guy on Father's Day

From Capsule Contents: What article of clothing have you had in your closet the longest? Anything since high school (or before :)?
I actually had to spend a few minutes looking through my closet to figure this one out! I have a pair of Silver jeans (that are far too small!) from when I worked at Buckle back in 2002. I'm hanging onto them because they were my first pair of semi-expensive jeans and I loved them! I keep thinking that maybe some day, I'll fit into them again.  Ha, but I have nothing from high school! Trust me, you don't want to see what I wore in high school. =)

From Jasmine, Mongs and Emily: How do you juggle everything, a full time job, school, being a Mum and finding time to blog?
Umm... I don't know.  Really, I have no idea!  Most days, I feel like I'm going to go crazy with all of the busy-ness in my life.

My Little Guy, at about three weeks old

What really helps is to kind of categorize my time.  Typically, 8 to 5 is for work and blogging.  Lunch breaks are for student teaching.  5pm to 7:30pm is all about the kids... cooking dinner, playing, bathtime.  From 7:30 till bedtime is for the Hubs.  Friday afternoons (I get off of work at 1:00) is for school work.  Saturdays are family time.  Sundays are for church and more school work.

So, when I think about it that way, basically, I can't stress about school work at any time except the time that I've allotted to school work. And I can't stress about work when I'm not at work.  Thinking of it that way helps get me through it.  And when that doesn't work, I remember that I only have a few more months of school.  Or I remember that my little ones will only be at this co-sleeping stage for a bit longer, so I should enjoy them snuggling in my bed (aka kicking me in the throat and pushing me off the bed) while they still want to!

From Kassi: What is your most hated fashion trend or thing that people wear?
Hmmm... I hate booty shorts.  You know the ones I mean? The ones that are so short they should be underwear, not shorts!  And I also hate pajama pants in public. Yeah, I live in a small town and I can't stand going to the grocery store and be surrounded by people who look like they're at a redneck slumber party. Seriously, ugh, I hate that!

From: Girlie Blogger: What's your perfect date night?
My perfect date night is . . . wait, if I share this with you, you can't laugh! It's nothing fantastic or glamorous.  It involves the kids going down without a fuss into their own beds (*gasp* I know that would be a shocker in my house these days!) and some yummy takeout and a recorded episode of Top Chef or Person of Interest.  That would pretty much make my night!

Me, the Hubs and Our Babies (before kids)

From Carissa: What are your thoughts on wearing white long sleeve shirt under tank dresses?
Well, in my opinion, for what it's worth (which really isn't that much!), I think it depends on the style of the strap on the dress. I think long sleeved or short sleeved shirts work underneath dresses with spaghetti straps, but I'm not too crazy about shirts underneath dresses that have more of a tank top strap or a sleeveless top.  But that's just me! I think it goes back to when I was had to wear private school uniforms which involved a white collard shirt underneath a navy blue jumper. *shudder*

My Little Miss, at about 5 weeks old

From Bravoe Runway: What is your #1 ultimate favorite dish you love LOVE to order at Carrabbas?
Okay, this one is super duper easy.  Every single time I go to Carrabbas, I eat the same thing. =) The Pollo Rosa Maria with loaded mashed potatoes and a caesar salad.  The Rosa Maria is stufed with fontina and prosciutto and topped with mushrooms and a lemon butter sauce. Are you drooling yet?? It is amazingly delicious!

From Audrey Allure: What kind of music do you like and who are your favorite artists/bands?
I like inspirational/worship music.  Lately, I've been listening to K LOVE.  I especially love Someone Worth Dying For.  Depending on my mood, I also like to listen to country music or music by Colbie Callat, Nora Jones, Jason Mraz and other artists like that.

From Rolala: What is your favorite place to shop?
This answer is going to give away just how simple and unsophisticated I am . . . =/ My favorite place in the world is <insert drumroll please> Target! I could tell you that I love shopping at Banana Republic or The Loft or J. Crew. And I do! But . . . Target is my favorite place in the world because it is the only store that has every single thing I need under one roof and has seriously super cute stuff to boot!  The kicker is that it has a Starbucks inside.  Oh yes, this place was made for busy moms who need a timeout! And that, my friends, is totally me. =)

From Megan10e: If you could live a completely different lifestyle for a year, what would you want to do?
I'd love to live in another country for a year.  Like maybe live in a villa in Italy and bake bread and tend to the grapes. Or live on the beaches in Cozumel and have nothing to worry about other than whether or not I'm getting sunburned. I could really love that kind of life! =)

So, there you have it! I've answered all of your burning questions and you should now know every little thing about me that you could ever want to! lol

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!! =)

Hey, I went to PCC too! You're the second PCC person I've met through blogging. Too funny. I'm old though, graduated in 1996. I did live P'cola for a few years in 2002-2005...I think those dates are correct. My husband went back to school for a short sprint.

Anyway...I'm careful about putting shirts under dresses too. I have a phobia of wearing jumpers. ;-) So while I do layer, I'm just neurotic about it. ;-)

Nice to meet you!

Tiffany ,firstly, I really love that waterlily shade on your nails! I have been coveting that for a very long time now :)

I also really enjoyed reading through your answers even though I didn't ask any questions. I really wouldn't know how to juggle everything if I had a full time job! You are just amazing at keeping disciplined to stick to that schedule! :)

Thanks for answering my question. No, I won't laugh, because it's my perfect date too. Except substitute Top Chef with something REALLY cheesy, like the Vampire Diaries.
