Friday's Flavor of the Week & Your Questions, Answered!

Friday's Flavor of the Week

Christian Dior in Waterlily

A few weeks ago, I won this polish from the incredibly sweet Kim at A Very Sweet Blog!  I really like this matte polish. I usually wear polish with a shimmer, so this was a little different for me.  It's actually much prettier in person... I just happen to take terrible photos. lol  In fact, it's so pretty that it prompted attention from strangers! I went to Starbucks last Sunday afternoon. I was sick, had been traveling and was wearing a sweatshirt and a pair of baggy jeans. Trust me, I looked awful! But the girl at the Starbucks counter raved about the pretty color and even called over another girl to see it! =)  So, I give this polish an A+ for prettyness. =)

Your Questions, Answered

Last week, I opened up my little blog to your questions and now it's time to answer them!  Before I start, I didn't want to bore you with a wordy post and no pictures, so I added some photos of my kids when they were babies. =)  Everyone likes babies, right?

From CC: How did you meet your hubby and how long have you been married?
Well, I first met the Hubs the summer between my sophomore and junior year. We both attended Pensacola Christian College and I stayed there that summer so that I could work on campus and save a little money.  I became friends with a girl in my dorm that was dating this incredibly cute guy . . . long story short, I met him, stole him and the rest was history. ;) Ha! I'm totally kidding! I did meet him while they were dating. But! Then they broke up, a year or so passed and we reconnected over his torn knee cartilage (he was a wrestler and got injured) and my computer class (he was a computer science major and I sucked at computers!). We quickly fell madly in love and knew we were destined to be together. ;) Then we dated forever and ever before finally getting married. So, we've been together for ten years, and married for seven.

The Hubs & Little Guy on Father's Day

From Capsule Contents: What article of clothing have you had in your closet the longest? Anything since high school (or before :)?
I actually had to spend a few minutes looking through my closet to figure this one out! I have a pair of Silver jeans (that are far too small!) from when I worked at Buckle back in 2002. I'm hanging onto them because they were my first pair of semi-expensive jeans and I loved them! I keep thinking that maybe some day, I'll fit into them again.  Ha, but I have nothing from high school! Trust me, you don't want to see what I wore in high school. =)

From Jasmine, Mongs and Emily: How do you juggle everything, a full time job, school, being a Mum and finding time to blog?
Umm... I don't know.  Really, I have no idea!  Most days, I feel like I'm going to go crazy with all of the busy-ness in my life.

My Little Guy, at about three weeks old

What really helps is to kind of categorize my time.  Typically, 8 to 5 is for work and blogging.  Lunch breaks are for student teaching.  5pm to 7:30pm is all about the kids... cooking dinner, playing, bathtime.  From 7:30 till bedtime is for the Hubs.  Friday afternoons (I get off of work at 1:00) is for school work.  Saturdays are family time.  Sundays are for church and more school work.

So, when I think about it that way, basically, I can't stress about school work at any time except the time that I've allotted to school work. And I can't stress about work when I'm not at work.  Thinking of it that way helps get me through it.  And when that doesn't work, I remember that I only have a few more months of school.  Or I remember that my little ones will only be at this co-sleeping stage for a bit longer, so I should enjoy them snuggling in my bed (aka kicking me in the throat and pushing me off the bed) while they still want to!

From Kassi: What is your most hated fashion trend or thing that people wear?
Hmmm... I hate booty shorts.  You know the ones I mean? The ones that are so short they should be underwear, not shorts!  And I also hate pajama pants in public. Yeah, I live in a small town and I can't stand going to the grocery store and be surrounded by people who look like they're at a redneck slumber party. Seriously, ugh, I hate that!

From: Girlie Blogger: What's your perfect date night?
My perfect date night is . . . wait, if I share this with you, you can't laugh! It's nothing fantastic or glamorous.  It involves the kids going down without a fuss into their own beds (*gasp* I know that would be a shocker in my house these days!) and some yummy takeout and a recorded episode of Top Chef or Person of Interest.  That would pretty much make my night!

Me, the Hubs and Our Babies (before kids)

From Carissa: What are your thoughts on wearing white long sleeve shirt under tank dresses?
Well, in my opinion, for what it's worth (which really isn't that much!), I think it depends on the style of the strap on the dress. I think long sleeved or short sleeved shirts work underneath dresses with spaghetti straps, but I'm not too crazy about shirts underneath dresses that have more of a tank top strap or a sleeveless top.  But that's just me! I think it goes back to when I was had to wear private school uniforms which involved a white collard shirt underneath a navy blue jumper. *shudder*

My Little Miss, at about 5 weeks old

From Bravoe Runway: What is your #1 ultimate favorite dish you love LOVE to order at Carrabbas?
Okay, this one is super duper easy.  Every single time I go to Carrabbas, I eat the same thing. =) The Pollo Rosa Maria with loaded mashed potatoes and a caesar salad.  The Rosa Maria is stufed with fontina and prosciutto and topped with mushrooms and a lemon butter sauce. Are you drooling yet?? It is amazingly delicious!

From Audrey Allure: What kind of music do you like and who are your favorite artists/bands?
I like inspirational/worship music.  Lately, I've been listening to K LOVE.  I especially love Someone Worth Dying For.  Depending on my mood, I also like to listen to country music or music by Colbie Callat, Nora Jones, Jason Mraz and other artists like that.

From Rolala: What is your favorite place to shop?
This answer is going to give away just how simple and unsophisticated I am . . . =/ My favorite place in the world is <insert drumroll please> Target! I could tell you that I love shopping at Banana Republic or The Loft or J. Crew. And I do! But . . . Target is my favorite place in the world because it is the only store that has every single thing I need under one roof and has seriously super cute stuff to boot!  The kicker is that it has a Starbucks inside.  Oh yes, this place was made for busy moms who need a timeout! And that, my friends, is totally me. =)

From Megan10e: If you could live a completely different lifestyle for a year, what would you want to do?
I'd love to live in another country for a year.  Like maybe live in a villa in Italy and bake bread and tend to the grapes. Or live on the beaches in Cozumel and have nothing to worry about other than whether or not I'm getting sunburned. I could really love that kind of life! =)

So, there you have it! I've answered all of your burning questions and you should now know every little thing about me that you could ever want to! lol

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!! =)

Friday's Flavor of the Week

This week's flavor of the week showcases two tropical and summery shades that I wore while cruising.  Unbeknownst to myself, I also implemented one of spring's biggest trends: neon! I didn't realize how trendy I was until after my nails were all painted and it hit me.  "That yellowish green hue sure is bright! It's practially NEON, it's so bright!" I thought to myself.  And that's when I realized that I might be able to sport the neon trend without decking myself in neon green from head to toe. =)  If I add a bright purse like this one and some cute sandals like these super cute Free People sandals, I'll se set!

So, how will you be sporting the neon trend?  Litte bits of neon in your nails and accessories?  Or will you go bold with neon jeans or a neon yellow shirt?

Friday's Flavor of the Week - You're an Angel

Last time I painted my nails, they were a dark shade, so this time I had to go with something bright and happy. =)  I chose this shade of pink by Nicole by Opi.  I think it's actually once of their Christmas colors because I happened to get it on clearance a few weeks ago.

This picture was taken a few days after I had actually painted my nails and you can see that the edges were starting to chip a little bit. That is no reflection on the polish itself! That's just because I'm really rough on my fingers with all the typing that I do! =)

I wish this polish had the perfect stroke brush like the Green with Envy shade.  Even without the perfect stroke brush though, I still really liked this polish.  It's a fabulous girlie shade of pink and even has a pretty shimmer to it.  It would be perfect to wear during the week of Valentine's Day!

I'm linking up today with The Nail Files. Head on over to see what other girls are doing with their nails this week. =)

Friday's Flavor of the Week - So Purple It's Black

It's Friday and time for another Flavor of the Week! I'm linking up today with The Nail Files to show off our pretty little nails and possibly find some new polishes to fall in love with! =)

Nicole by Opi You Can Sleigh That Again

This polish came in a 2 pack with Chrome for the Holidays, a silvery shade of light purple.  The one I'm wearing is actually a really dark purple, even though it looks black. I'm really not a fan of it.  I think I'm more a bright nails girl, than a dark nails girl.  Although it did go pretty well with this outfit.

Dress: Soooo old. It was given to me by a co-worker years ago.
Cardi: Maurices
Belt: NY&Co
Tights: Target
Booties: Steve Madden via 6pm.com
Ring: c/o Blue Vanilla

I really wish I had managed to get some better shots that showed off my sparkly belt. I think it was my favorite part of the outfit!

I'm not feeling very wordy today. The kids were up throughout the night and I'm tired. And I'm thinking of all the school work that I need to get to work on. So, I think I'll leave y'all at that and go get busy on my school work.

Have a fun weekend!!

Friday's Flavor of the Week - Green with Envy

Or green like limes... Green with envy just sounded better. =)

Nicole by Opi One Time Lime

I wore this shade the week before Christmas and it was the perfect shade to help me feel festive without being too festive. It'll be perfect for St. Patrick's Day and during the summer, too! My Little Guy loved this shade so much that he put in a special request this morning that I paint my nails this color again. So, I guess I'll be doing that this afternoon. ;)

The "perfect stroke brush" that they advertise is simply brilliant! It made applying the polish so much easier and faster than it normally is and I was able to update my nails with some bright color in just a few minutes!
Have y'all seen the Kardashian Kolor collection? The shades are beautiful! I walked past the display recently at Target and was really impressed. I think I my favorite shade is Kendall on the Cat Walk or maybe Kim-Pletely in Love. They are two completely different colors, but they're both so pretty!

Friday's Flavor of the Week

I've decided to start a new little feature in an effort to make me do something to my nails more often than once a month and then letting them turn into the most horrendous looking chipped nails in the history of chips. Who starts a new feature at the end of December, you're wondering...  Well, I guess only people who get an idea and absolutely have to run with it right away and can't keep anything to themselves for any length of time whatsoever. So, yeah... that would be me. =)

Yesterday, my sweet friend and coworker gave me a gift bag full of all kinds of goodies, one of which was the Sally Hansen nail polish strips I've been hearing all about lately.  I was so excited to try them! Had I not been distracted by the cries of my 18-month old who didn't want to sleep, I think they would have been incredibly easy to apply.  Even with her cries and the interruptions of running to her room to shush and soothe her, I still only encountered some minor hiccups.

I think the end result turned out pretty well and is perfect for the weekend of Christmas festivities!

Ring: c/o Blue Vanilla

Have you tried the Sally Hansen nail polish strips yet?  What do you think of them?

And if you're stopping by for the first time... go check out my giveaway for the item of your choice from Blue Vanilla!!

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful weekend!! I'll be back on Monday to announce the winner of the giveaway!
