Seven for Seven

As I finished my first 30 for 30, I thought to myself, "Aaah, this feels nice. I have no desire to get dressed and I don't have to!" So, I spent two whole days in my gym shorts, swimsuit and grubby clothes. Then I took a trip to New Orleans for my sister's shower.  Just before I began packing, I was reading one of my favorite style blogs and noticed that she was hosting a 7 for 7 link up.  Say what?  Make 7 different outfits out of 7 different pieces of clothing?  I mean, I know I just finished something similar, but this was the perfect solution to my packing dilemma!

So, I threw these pieces into my bag, along with several pairs of shoes, lots of jewelry, and two tank tops, and called it finished.

These are my outfits in the order I wore them.

I think we can safely say that coral and turquoise dominated this challenge. The coral skirt, coral shorts, the turquoise top... During this challenge, it felt a bit like I was wearing the same thing over and over again.  To keep my outfits feeling fresh, I rotated between gold and silver jewelry.  But that only helped a little bit.  If I were to do something like this again, I think I'd include seven very different pieces, so that I felt like I was wearing very different outfits every time I got dressed.

I will genuinely miss my coworker, (Yes, I only have one coworker. It's a really small office.) but I am more than ready to begin teaching those sweet children. I'm really looking forward to inspiring them to love learning as much as I do, to realize that reading books can open up entire new worlds to them, and to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when they grasp a concept that had been eluding them.

Anyways, this isn't supposed to be a place where I go on and on about my life and the things that I love, is it? Unless of course one of the things I love is . . . this dress!

This dress could not possibly be better suited for me. It's bright, it has the prettiest detail, and it falls away from the midsection so that I could happily eat as much Mexican food as I want and you wouldn't even be able to tell! ;)

Pretty, right? It's so versatile, too. I could easily wear this dress out to lunch with the girls, or strolling along the beach with my kids, or on a date with the hubs. I love it!

OTI - Kayla's Pick

Today's Open to Interpretation look was chosen by Kayla and I could not love this look more.  Seriously, check out the original inspiration photo here.  Isn't it wonderful?? The denim vest, the bright maxi skirt, the nude wedges. I just love the boho chic vibe of it! Upon seeing this photo, I promptly ran to the thrift store in search of a denim vest and a bright maxi skirt. I was disappointed to find nothing.  So, I had to work with what I had... kind of. =)

Isn't this zipper bracelet adorable?? I won it in a giveaway hosted by the lovely Alicia and have been wearing it pretty much every day since I received it! =) It can be worn with nearly anything and is such a fun addition to a stack of bracelets.

Almost Never Happened

Today, I bring you a few outfits that almost never happened. Because if you don't blog about them, they didn't happen, right? ;) One of them almost didn't happen because I didn't snap a picture until the end of the day when I was literally dead on my feet.  One of them almost didn't happen because I only got one picture before my camera died. And the third one almost didn't happen because it just wasn't all that cute.

I happened to wear the gray and black ensemble above one day last week and I was in a rotten mood all day! I think the real reason I was cranky had to do with a certain monthly visitor, but I like to blame my moods on clothes. You know, happy colors equal happy moods. Therefore, dreary colors equal rotten moods. =)

I really wanted to show you guys this necklace that I got! It's so cute and since it's in a hot color for spring, I can wear it with almost anything. So, I was incredibly disappointed that my camera died before I could get a close-up shot of it... Maybe next time.

And this one?  Well, let's just say that I should have taken my four-year old's advice with this one.  I walked into the room, ready to head out the door and he said, "Momma, is it snowing outside?" 

I said, "Ummm... no, why?" 

"Well, your wearing a scarf. Scarfs are for snow."

"Sometimes scarves are just for looking cute," I responded.

"No, mom, not this time. If it's not snowing, take it off," he adametly declared.

Well, I didn't listen...  After seeing the pictures, I realized I probably should have. =)

And after seeing all of these pictures taken on different days, I realize something else... I should probably come up with a new pose. =)
