Trends: Flowers & Stripes

First, I wanted to say hello to my new followers and welcome!! I really appreciate all of you tagging along on this fun little journey of mine! =)

I'm participating in a fashion challenge put on by Casual Chic Kiki and Megan Mae Daily.  Each day will feature a different trend. This is fun for me because I'm not really a huge fan of taking risks and following this summer's trends require a few risks on my part!

Today's trend is flowers and stripes. If I'm being honest here, I didn't actually wear this today. I wore it one day last week in anticipation of the challenge because I rarely ever get to blog about an outfit on the day I wear it. You know how sometimes an outfit looks better in real life than it does in the pictures? Well, occasionally (ahem, today!), an outfit looks better in the picture than it does in real life. I absolutely love it . . . in the picture. In real life, the dress kept scrunching up and making the belt tighter and made it look like I had fat rolls. (Umm, okay, I do, but I don't like to advertise them!)  And the sleeves of the cardigan got really loose and baggy after a while.

Enough of my ramblings. I'm sure you're eager to know just how it all turned out. =)

Cardigan, Jewelry & Belt: Target
Shoes: rsvp from 6pm.com

Despite the ramblings above, here are the things I loved about the outfit: the colors! I absolutely loved the yellow and orange and shades of blue. In fact, I'm actually meeting two challenges today. A few months back, Kish challenged me to wear this yellow cardi with my turquoise shoes and I finally worked up the nerve! =)

If you feel like you want to see a list of all the bloggers participating and see how they're styling the trends, then go HERE.  Have a Happy Monday!

Oh, and one last thing... tomorrow is all about neutrals. In your opinion, is grey and black neutral? If so, then I'm all set! If not, then I have to do some thinking as to how I'm going to qualify for that one!

And one more last thing. =) I'm also linking up with Mimi's Many Layers Mondays!

Oh! You did a great job with this trend. The yellow cardi and turqouise shoes looks fab together. And you made it work appropriate.

I had a hard time with this trend challenge today and making it work appropriate. I chickened out and wore it on the weekend instead.

I love your take on today's outfit! You look very summery and bright--I love it! (And you SO do NOT have ANY fat rolls. I'd love to have your cute little figure)

In my opinion, black and grey are neutrals. (Isn't tomorrow military feminine? I thought Neutral was Friday?)
I've got my outfit picked out, but I'm having a bit of "is the tomato a fruit or veggie" moment with the colors. Is olive green/khacki green a neutral? I've seen a lot of people treat it that way, but I'm not sure.

Black, brown, navy, grey, tan, khaki, taupe...those are neutrals in my book, so I think your okay.

Oh! And you are working the heck out of those shoes with this outfit. They are POPPIN'!!!

Great job with this assignment...love that you left the cardi a tad open with the tan cami underneath. Nice layering job;)

Great pairing of stripes and florals. A very different take on the stripes part.

Grey, black, navy, brown, white and metallics are all considered neutrals.

I like the combination here. When you first here about a floral pattern and stripes being worn together, it's like .... ehhhhhh. But then you see it, and it's gorgeous. Plus, the colors you used are very complementary for this. :)

I really like the turquoise heels with the yellow and the pattern mixing and matching is perfect! I'm like you in that I'm always a day or two behind in outfits being shown vs. what was worn.

You did a great job with floral and stripes because the challenge even sounded daunting to me! Love this look and sorry to hear in person the fit wasn't as fab as you hoped! As for the colours gray and black, they're neutrals, you can throw in a mix of tan as well! Can't wait to see your outfit tmrw!

Great combo. I am going to participate in this too on the days I am not doing the other challenges. By the way I thought tomorrow was feminine military not naturals.
