Day Three - Mixin' It Up

That's right, my friends. Kayla's 21 Day Challenge has us mixing up the patterns today!  This one's a toughie for me. I perused my closet and found that I own no striped shirts. I have a few striped cardigans, but not a single striped shirt. How is that even possible, you ask. Well, for the longest time, I was under the impression that sideways stripes make a girl look fat. Pshhh what do "they" know, anyways?? I've seen sideways stripes all over the place since discovering fashion blogging, so my new obsession (once I'm allowed to shop again, but that's another story!) is finding a few striped shirts!  Okay, back to the matter at hand, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to include this new to me skirt in the mix today.  With that in mind, I pondered between a zebra print blazer or my zebra print belt that's been all over my blog lately.  Since I'm not a fan of taking too many risks, I settled on the zebra print belt and saved the zebra print blazer for another day.

Shirt: Converse, Target (Borrowed from my Sis)
Skirt: Bought at a Yard Sale ($4)
Belt: Bealls ($4)
Shoes: Nine West, TJ Maxx ($15)
Blingin' Ring: McKell's Closet
Bracelets: Assortment from Bealls & Target

A closeup of my blingin' ring and bracelets. ;)

Oh, funny story. This morning, while taking pictures at the gardens I recently discovered, I was attacked by a swarm of killer bees. Okay, not really a swarm. Just one. And okay, I wasn't really attacked, but I did do the "bee dance" and waved my arms around like a crazy person for a few seconds. Good thing the gardens are pretty much deserted first thing in the morning or people might think the girl who takes pictures of herself is a little wacky.

If you want to see how the other participants are mixing it up today, go HERE! And if you want to enter to win my giveaway, go HERE!

And on one last note, I'm dressing up today with No Model Lady

You look great.

I think the zebra belt is just enough of a funk pop that it still works. The thing about stripes is the width. Certain stripes can make you look bigger, but others can work to actually make you look smaller.

Thanks so much for your sweet comment!
Btw, that skirt is too flippin cute! And I'm loving the zebra belt with it! It's just the right amount of mixmatch...makes you give the outfit a second take, ya know? Very well done!

A zebra print blazer? Bring it. I'm serious. I can't wait to see it. (I'm a little crazy for some zebra stripes). I like the pattern mixing and the pop of your fingernail polish!

I like your outfit today! Pretty colors, too. I think you should do a post about how you absolutely nail it when it comes to posing for these photos. I always feel so awkward, but you look like a pro!

Thanks for the sweet comment about my red pants. :) I too had the no horizontal stripes problem until just recently. Now I love them. :)

I know this isn't a recent post, but I'm a little behind... I just wanted to say that I LOVE the outfit! So cute! It puts my khaki shorts and t-shirt to shame :-) Of course, I'm just lounging around the house, but I suddenly feel really under-dressed! I wouldn't be surprised if you have cute "cleaning the house" or "watching Big Brother" outfits... *sigh*
