You Can't Catch Me...

I'm the Gingerbread Man!

Dress & Cardi: My Sister's
Leggings: Target ($20)
Belt ($3) & Socks ($3): Aldo
Boots: Rue 21 ($12.50)

One day last week, I read the beautiful Kassi's post about dressing like the supporting characters of Christmas and thought that sounded like fun!  When I was browsing my sister's closet earlier this week, I saw this lacy dress and rusty red cardigan and got inspired. =)

The rings and bracelets represent the fun bling that gingerbread men are always sporting.

The boots are for running through the snow . . . you know, because Gingerbread Men are always on the run. =)

Speaking of boots, what do you think? This is my *ahem* sixth pair of boots since September... It might be safe to say that I have a boot problem, seeing as how I live in Florida where we get like one month of winter.

So, here I am all dressed up like a Gingerbread Man. I almost wish I had saved this little outfit for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I'm just about fresh out of inspiration, so I'm going to have to dig deep to come up with something festive for the main event! =)

I hope y'all are enjoying the last few days leading up to Christmas!! We celebrated Christmas with the kidlets last night and we're heading to New Orleans tomorrow to spend the holidays with my family. I can't wait to see everyone and just soak up lots of family time!

What about you? Do you have traveling plans for the next few days? Or are you holing up at home and enjoying the festivities at your own house?

If you haven't entered yet, head on over to my giveaway and enter to win the item of your choice from Blue Vanilla!! You only have until Christmas to enter and then I'll be announcing the winner! =)

Wear it Wednesday - Mustard & Green Beans

Conversation I had with the Hubs on Saturday on our way to a birthday party:

Me: Do you like my outfit?
Him: Ha, well, I don't know. See, I was always taught to match.
Me: Oh, you mean like green and yellow don't match?
Him: No, like your tights and your shirt are two different shades of yellow.

Umm... ok.

 Khaki Jacket: Thrifted ($6)
Shirt: Gap (Borrowed from Sis)
Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft, Thrifted ($3.50)
Tights: Target ($5, or $15, since this is my 3rd pair)
Boots: Shoedazzle (Gift)
Ring: Glow Salon ($5)
Other Jewelry: Borrowed from Sis

Later that day:
Me: Can you believe that the first time I wore my mustard tights, I snagged a hole in them?? So, I bought another pair and would you believe I snagged them again??
Him: Maybe it's a sign...
Me: That the universe is working against my coolness?
Him: No, that mustard should be used for your hotdogs and not your legs.

Umm... ok.

And if you're wondering, yes, this is my third pair of mustard tights from Target. And yes, they did snag again today! I guess it's time for me to try a different brand!

 My sister's cool accessories =)

What do you think?  Does mustard work on legs with a skirt the color of green beans and a shirt the color of sunshine? =)

Bloggers for Health, 100 Day Stretch & Some Thankfulness

Bloggers for Health

This is the 3rd week of Bloggers for Health! I missed last week due to . . . well, just the busyness of life. Today, however, the Hubs is out of town, so while the Little Miss is napping, Little Guy & I are watching The Sword and The Stone.  And I'm blogging a bit. =)

Since starting Bloggers for Health a few weeks ago, I've noticed I'm making wiser choices each day in what I eat.  I'm not sticking to my five steps exactly, but I am eating more salads and fruit. I haven't been running like I wanted to, thanks to the frigid weather Florida has been having, so I need to rethink my workout plan...  But I am definitely feeling much better, simply because of my healthier choices!

Now, I'd like to share a healthy and easy salad that I like to eat at work!

Mix together salad greens, 1/2 can of tuna, sliced strawberries, chopped pecans and light Italian dressing.

Voila!! You have yourself an absolutely delicious and healthy lunch!

100 Day Stretch

Well, my shopping ban is going strong! I'm actually quite surprised at how well it has gone. I've picked up one or two little things from Target that were on sale and I put them in my Christmas closet, so I don't consider that "cheating."  I also bought myself two things from the thrift store recently that were about a dollar a piece, so that was cheating that was well worth it! =)  Basically, the shopping ban has simply helped me to curb my spending and to not be so reliant upon impulse shopping to help with my stress. It's nice to know that I don't have to run to the store for a shopping spree every time I'm stressed out!

Some Thankfulness

I absolutely love this time of year, from the first days of fall until New Years Day, everything seems to be so festive! The cold air doesn't really feel dreary until about mid-January; it simply feels Christmassy! =) One of my favorite things about this time of year is that almost everyone you come across is feeling cheery and thankful. Today, I'm thankful for days when the Hubs is out of town. Although I rely on him a lot (really, a lot!), when he's out of town, the kidlets and I bond in a way that we don't get to when he's here. It's just me and then against the world! lol Well, sometimes it's me against them, but you know how that goes. =)

And also, on a very superficial note... I'm thankful for these boots. They're becoming my best friend during this little cold spell we're having!

Sweater: Old Navy (Soooo old, $6)
Jeans: Eddie Bauer ($10-ish, I think)
Boots: Shoedazzle (Gift)
Ring: Glow Salon ($5)
Here I am, just bashfully admiring my boots. ;)
Tank, necklace & bracelet: Borrowed from my Sis
Last but not least, I'd like offer a belated congratulations to Grace at Camp Patton on the birth of her perfect little son, Sebastian Xavier! Grace writes hysterically funny stories about motherhood and shares some adorable outfits, as well. I don't know how she manages to look so cute, with a newborn baby! So, if you're pregnant or a mom or just a girl who likes to read blogs, go check her out. I'm sure you'll like her as much as I do! =)

Brain Dead

I literally sat here for about 15 minutes trying to think of something clever and catchy to use as a title. But I've got nothin'. I could blame it on the fact that I'm currently playing three Words With Friends games, while drafting a few pleadings and thinking about the assignment that I have to turn in this afternoon for school after I help my mentor teacher grade papers and prepare for next week.  Yeah, I'll blame it on that.

When I woke up Wednesday morning, it was freezing cold in the panhandle of Florida. And by freezing, I mean a frigid 54 degrees! So, I dressed accordingly and broke out my new birthday boots. =)

Dress: Maurices ($10)
Shirt: Charlotte Russe (Borrowed from Sis)
Belt: Target, perhaps? ($4-ish)
Wooden Bangles: Borrowed from Sis
Boots: Shoedazzle

Two things... 1) I hate that my photo editing skills are so crappy that I can never portray the pretty olive green shade of this dress! I've worn it here, here and here, and it always looks black. 2) What is that weird line on my right knee? It looks like my leg is about to split in two!

I hope y'all have a great weekend!!
