Colorful

Yesterday was a rainy day and I was sleep deprived, so I did what I always do in that situation. I just kept piling on colors until I cheered up. =)

Chambray Sleeveless Shirt: Thrifted ($3, similar here and here)
Green Skirt: Loft, Thrifted ($3.50, similar here and here... sorry I couldn't find any longer ones)
Yellow wedge sandals: Cato (Gift from my aunt, Thanks Aunt Jannie!! similar here and here)

Green, blue, yellow, pink . . . All I really need is another color or two and I'd look similar to a rainbow in a blue sky.

Necklace: Target ($10, I think... similar here and here)
Pink wrist wrap: Target ($7, similar here)
Leather & chain link bracelet: Gift, similar here)

It did the trick and even helped to push the clouds away, because by noon, it was sunny! Of course, that could just be Florida's fickle weather for you. ;)

Hey, I have a quick favor to ask of you... would you mind voting for my picture in a style contest, please, pretty please?  All you have to do is go to April M Jewelry and like their facebook page.  Then just like my photo on their page... It's currently the second one down. It's the picture of the outfit I posted yesterday with the lace vest.  Thanks, girls!! Y'all are the best! =)

What do you tend to do when it's gloomy out? Do you dress in brighter colors to counteract the gloominess or do you embrace it and dress in neutral shades?

Headbands & Hairbows

Do y'all remember when Prose Boutique so kindly participated in my Follower Appreciation Giveaway?  Well, when Ally gave us that 30% off code, I promptly visited her shop and bought a bunch of adorable headbands for my Little Miss.  When they came in, I was SO excited and proceeded to try playing dress up with her. She kept ripping them off and grumbling. So, I did what any good mom would do.  I tried them on myself... And loved them! =)

Denim & Pearl Headband from Prose Boutique

I tried explaining to my Little Miss that headbands and hairbows are the perfect accessory and take an ordinary outfit to the next level, but she would have none of it! I guess until she's old enough that I can threaten her within an inch of her life to keep her headband on, I'll just have to wear them myself. =)

Incredibly Loud and Obnoxious Giraffe Print Dress: Thrifted
Chambray Sleeveless Shirt: Thrifted
Belt: Target
Sandals: A Shop in New Orleans
Bracelets: Gift

Do you like to wear hair accessories?

Cry Me a River

I feel like all I do is whine lately! Eesh. It's got to stop. Like right now, all I want to do is whine. Other than that I can't think of anything even remotely entertaining to say!

I've been sitting here staring at the computer screen for nearly ten minutes and I've got nothing. Unless you want to hear about Once Upon a Time. Because that's what I've got playing in the background.  Poor Snow White and Prince Charming! Will they ever finally realize they belong together?!? Whatever it is that's keeping me from being my usual witty, entertaining self, let's hope it's gone tomorrow, right? ;)  Otherwise, you just might get to hear about more shows I'm liking right now.

Shirt: maurices
Jeans: Old Navy
Booties: JCPenney
Jewelry: Borrowed from my Sis

A little shout-out to Heather & Kayla of H&K Style Journey, who inspired me to go all black and white with no pops of color at all. It's shocking, I know! ;)

I need to find a new photo editing site now that picnik is closing! Because without picnik, this is what happens. I get one picture that looks kind of decent and another that is all glowy. And I have no idea why. lol So, if you have any recommendations, let me know, please! =)

Well, I hope y'all are having a fab week! I'm linking up today with The Pleated Poppy! Head on over there to get a little inspiration to dress up a bit!

What I Wore Wednesday - Happy Neutrals

Usually, I wear neutrals when I'm feeling dreary. I'm just not really a neutral wearing kind of gal.  But today, I'm happy, and I wore neutrals anyway. =) If you're wondering why I'm so happy, I posted about it here on my new little blog that I created to talk about how God has been working in my life.

Sweater & Skinny Cargoes: Target
Shirt: Gap
Boots: Rue 21

Bracelets: JCPenney & Target (Both were Christmas presents!)
Ring: Borrowed from my Sister
Earrings: Coldwater Creek (Christmas present!)

I wanted to give you a close up of all the fun jewelry I got for Christmas. I'm loving every bit of it!

I  really like this necklace that I won!  When Karly from Three Bees Creations contacted me after the giveaway, I was thrilled!  I was able to choose the number of pearls that I wanted in the necklace, and I chose four, which represents to me the number in our family... Me, the Hubs, Little Guy & Little Miss.  Every time I wear it, I'll have my family close to my heart. Cue sigh . . . and eye roll for cheesiness. ;)

I hope you all are having a great week!  It's hump day, so let's all just keep on plugging along till we make it to the weekend, when we can relax and enjoy our friends and families.  That reminds me of a funny story.  One time, the Hubs went to the doctor's office and the nurse asked him, "So, are you working for the weekend?" He just said, "No." (He's not a big casual conversation with strangers person.) He thought she was asking if he had to work on the weekend. lol She gave him such a strange look and walked away.  She must have thought he was one wacky person that enjoyed his job so much that he didn't work "for the weekend." =)

What I Wore Wednesday - Experimenting with Stripes

Quite a while back, I pinned this picture of Becks rocking her stripes on stripes and decided to finally wear my stripes [oomph.] style. What do you think? Too much?

Jacket: Rue 21
Dress: Borrowed from my Sis
Shirt: Target (It's pajamas!)
Leggings: Target
Boots: JCPenney

When I showed the Hubs the outfit yesterday morning, he said, "Yeah, that looks great! Your kids will love that!" To which I responded, "Umm, I'm not teaching today," and subsequently wondered if it's a look that should only be worn when teaching and entertaining 8-year olds.  When I showed my sister the pictures, she said, "Whoa!! That's a lot of stripes!"

The blue you see peeking out of the boots aren't actually my socks. They're actually agoo leggings that belong to my Little Miss. At the very bottom, they have some flowers and butterflies all the way up the leg. I can't wait to wear them with my ankle boots!

Scarf: Ellis and Wiles scarf from Adam Alex Mommy's Giveaway!
Ring: c/o Blue Vanilla
Other Jewelry: Borrowed from my Sis

I was recently tagged in a fun post by Lena at Mom 2 Memphis & Ruby. Thanks for thinking of me! =)

Here's what I get to do:
1. Post these rules.
2. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post.
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
5. Go to their blog and tell them that you've tagged them.
6. No stuff in the tagging section about "you are tagged if you are reading this."  Legitimately tag 11 people!!

Random Stuff About Me

1. The first movie I saw in the movie theater was Home Alone. I didn't see my second until years later, when I saw Clueless, with my besties.
2. Of course, Clueless was my favorite movie for years. Then it was Legally Blonde. Now, that I'm all grown up, I love serious and grown up movies like Mulan (I recently rediscovered that one with my Little Guy), 27 Dresses, Harry Potter, Twilight . . . those are the kinds of movies adults like, right?
3.  I didn't like tomatoes (raw or cooked) until I got pregnant with my Little Guy. Now, I love them. The same with pretty much all vegetables.
4.  When I was little, I didn't like anything that was all jumbled together... Gumbo, lasagna... I wouldn't touch them. My Little Guy has definitely inherited that from me!
5.  When I first met the Hubs, he was dating my roommate. More on that story some other time. ;)
6.  Number Five is not as bad as it sounds! He and my roomie had been over for a long time before he and I ever started dating!
7.  I am sinner saved by grace, an Independent Baptist by denomination. And I hope that I'm a good example of what a Christian should be and how they should act.
8. I am a people pleaser by nature and can get along with almost anyone. But do something to hurt me or mine, and momma bear comes out.
9. I'm giving up sugars and unhealthy carbs to begin the New Year.  Except for my flavored creamer, of course. Because who can drink coffee without flavored creamer?!?
10.  A friend inspired me to run a 1/2 marathon this year. So, even though I can barely run two miles right now, I'm planning to run 13.1 before the year is out! =)

Questions from Lena:

1. What was your favorite holiday memory this year?
Oooh, this one's easy! See, we didn't get a tree this year because we were saving our money and getting a fake tree once they went on sale after Christmas and we were going to be traveling during the Christmas holidays anyways , so I set up a little metal tree that someone had given me and hung ornaments on it. I had planned to string lights and really Christmassify that little corner of our living room, but life got too busy and I wasn't able to. So, one day while I was at work and the kids were at daycare, the Hubs surprised us by stringing lights and hanging up stockings.  When we got home, my Little Guy's face lit up and he said, "It's Christmas!!!" =)
2. If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be & why? Jesus, obviously. I'd love for Him to take me on a stroll to all the places that He visited in the Bible. I'd love to hear the Sermon on the Mount straight from His mouth. I'd love to worship Him in person.
3. What's your favorite fast food/ take-out order?
Oh, I'm a sucker for fast food, which is why it's been banned for the month of January! I have a number of favorites and here they are: Taco Bell's crunchwrap supreme, Burger King's whopper jr., Chick-fil-A's chicken sandwich & peppermint milk shake, and general's chicken & fried rice from any Chinese place anywhere.
4. What is your worst habit?
Eating when I'm bored. For sure. I tend to zone out and eat a ridiculous amount of food when I'm not paying attention.  Just the other day, I was stressed out about school work and I sat in front of the computer to do a few assignments and polished off a bag of baked lays and whoppers. Sure, they're both supposedly low in fat, but I'm pretty sure the amount I ate added up to be quite a bit of fat. lol
5. What is your least favorite household chore?
Hands down, laundry wins this one. It's the never ending chore!
6. What is the last thing you bought for yourself?
The red boots that I wore here.
7. If you could change your name... what would it be?
I don't know... when I was younger, I wanted to be Veronica, like from the Archie comic books... But now, even though my name tends to be sort of bimbo-ish (I mean, whenever you're watching a reality show and one of the contestants is a dumb blonde, odds are her name is Tiffany!), it's grown on me. And I like it. =)
8. Have you ever had any supernatural encounters?
Oh, wow, what a question! I don't necessarily believe in the supernatural like most people think of it. But I do believe in Jesus and His supernatural power of forgiveness.  When I was twelve years old, he saved me from a life of sin. I've strayed over the years, but He always welcomed me back with loving arms. So, in a way, I have had a supernatural encounter. =)
9. What is the ONE blog you MUST read every day?
Well, there are sooo many inspiring blogs out there! From fashion blogs to mom blogs to inspirational Christian blogs, there are just so many!  But there is one blog I visit before heading to any other and it's Heather & Kayla's.  They are adorable and inspirational in the outfit department, but the real reason I like to visit them is that they're sweet and genuine and have become real bloggy friends. =)
10. Share you favorite joke!
Can you believe I don't actually have a favorite joke?? I had to reach out to my facebook followers and I had so many responses that it was hard to choose one. ;) Here's what I've got for ya.  Why does Snoop Dogg always carry an umbrella?.... For the drizzle, my nizzle! Ha, it's a pretty good one since it made me laugh. =)
11. Best advice you've given or received about blogging is...
To be yourself and not try to mimic anyone else!

My Questions:

1.  Do you live in the same town you grew up in?
2.  What is your favorite TV show?
3.  What is your favorite memory from highschool?
4.  Who is someone that you look up to?
5.  Where do you see yourself in five years?
6.  How did you get into blogging?
7.  Where is one place you've never been that you really want to visit before you die?
8.  What is one thing you've never done that you really want to do at least once in your life?
9.  What do you like to do in your downtime?
10. What is your favorite comfort food?
11. What do you like to wear to lift your mood when the winter doldrums hits you?

What I Wore Wednesday - A Christmas Party Look for a Teacher

Okay, y'all, today was the Christmas party with my third grade class and it was so much fun!  All of the kids were planning to wear their pajamas to class. I really wanted to get in on the pajama action, but knew that since I had to go to the office (to the paying job... boo...) afterwards, I had better wear something presentable.  I still wanted to be festive and wear something that screamed "Party right here!!"  So, this is what I came up with.

Dress: Y Apparel (Borrowed from My Sis)
T-Shirt: Express (Ages & Ages ago, so I can't remember the price)
Leggings: Target ($6)
Socks: Probably Wal-Mart ($2-ish)
Booties: JCPenney ($20)
Jewelry: Borrowed from My Sis

I totally forgot to put on lipstick or lipgloss this morning. lol Oh well, it happens to the best of us. =)

Okay, how fab are these boots?!? They're another of my Black Friday steals that I got from JCPenney. I have to re-box and wrap these up, too. =)

No, I don't have to pee. This is me being shy and bashful. ;)

So, you can always tell how much I like my outfit by the number of photos that accompanies the post... Yeah, I really liked this one. I might even wear crazy socks like this again when I'm not going to a Christmas party for kids. ;)

Y'all go enter my giveaway, if you haven't done so already!! It closes tomorrow night!

What I Wore Wednesday - Cozy Sweater or Itchy Sweater?

If I saw this sweater on anyone else, I'd say, "Oh, what a great cozy sweater!" However, when I put it on myself, it quickly turned from cozy to itchy! I don't know what it is with me and picky materials, but my skin is just so sensitive.  Now I remember why I dislike cold weather clothes so much. It's incredibly difficult for me to find a sweater that doesn't pick at my skin!

Sweater: American Eagle (Sister's)
Jeans: Eddie Bauer ($10, I think)
Boots: Shoedazzle (Gift)
Teal Ring: Maurices ($2.99)
Gold Glass Ring: Glow Salon ($5)

You know what's weird about this sweater, though? The longer I wear it, the less itchy it becomes. I thought it would have had the opposite effect on me, but nope. Maybe it's growing on me. =)

Oh, and on a totally unrelated note, the runner didn't show up today. And here I was all ready to embrace my inner blogger and proudly primp and preen in front of the camera without worrying about what he might think. ;)
