Summer (Mom) Style: More Sneakers

As in, I need more sneakers. I'm getting quite bored with this pair.

 photo IMG_3456_zps0f5f9c15.jpg
Skirt: Loft, Thrifted
Shirt: Thrifted
Tank: Target
Sneakers: TJMaxx

Yesterday, I wore these sneakers and this same shirt with my plaid shorts, so when it came time to change for Family Conference, I went for a quick change. This skirt was the only thing in my 30 for 30 that I haven't worn that is somewhat appropriate for church. It's actually a little bit shorter than I like to wear to church, but when I cover my knees up with my Bible, we're all good. ;)

This little miss was quite the photographer yesterday.  In the above photo, she's telling me, "No. Back all da way to dis." As she points to the fence.

So I did. And she said, "Yeah, momma. Dat better."

I have a feeling it's going to be a beautiful day today! We actually only have a 20% chance of rain for the first day in weeks, so we're driving out to the beach!

Summer (Mom) Style: Rainy Day Blues

It has rained nearly every day since summer break began, but those scattered thunderstorms have nothing on the monsoon that has drenched us for the past three days. Seriously. I'm over it.  I put on a happy face for the kids and tell them that the rain is oh so wonderful for the grass and the trees, but I want just a teeny bit of sunshine.

Not only would I relish a day spent lounging on the beach, but I also need some pretty weather so I can practice open water swimming!

Outfit #23

 photo IMG_3415_zpsa525b3e0.jpg
Shorts, Belt, Sandals: Target
Top: Loft (Thrifted)
Necklace & Earrings: Rue 21

Not only am I over this rain, I'm over this 30 for 30. I mean, I'm still able to mix and match these pieces and I'm not really struggling too badly coming up with outfits. But I'm bored with them! I want to wear my new bird shirt and I'm pretty sure my church friends are beginning to think that I only own the blue sheath dress and green maxi skirt, since those were the only church appropriate skirts that I included in the mix. Next time, I might throw in a few more knee-length or longer skirts.

Outfit #24

Six more outfits to go . . . that's what I keep telling myself.

I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday weekend! My fingers are crossed that the weather clears up soon(ish) so that we can get out and do something other than make tents in the living room and watch movies.

A Maxi Dress, A Necklace, Wrestling & A Giveaway

What do those four things have in common?  Typically, nothing. Today, they have me: the glue that binds them together into one cohesive blog post! ;)

When I was in Destin a few weeks ago, I had a chance to visit the Loft Outlet and seriously could have spent my entire paycheck in there! Instead, I narrowed my purchases down to two dresses.  This little dress that I wore last week and this lovely maxi dress. They were only $19.99 each! They actually had dozens of different dresses at that price. I can't wait to go back when Whitney comes in town. =)

Dress: Loft Outlet
Tank & Sandals: Target

Do you remember when I won this gorgeous necklace from Castellammare Designs? Well, I was thrilled when the owner reached out to me later and offered to give away a piece to one of my readers!

Necklace: Castellammare Designs (purchase here)
Rings & Earrings: Premier Designs Jewelry
Bracelets: Target

Castellammare Designs jewelry is sweet and feminine, while being lively and playful at the same time. Kind of like me! ;)

Do you see that big ole ring on my forefinger?  That beauty is my husband's college National Championship wrestling ring!

Wrestling is in our blood!  My husband's dad and uncle (who are twins!) wrestled in the Olympics in both 1968 and 1972! My husband, his brother and all of his cousins wrestled in high school and college. And you want to know the kicker? My husband's cousin, Sam, is wrestling for Team USA this year in London!! We're all so excited and can't wait for the opening ceremonies Friday night! Go Sam!!

Anyways, back to the matter at hand... this sweet necklace!

I love how she's designed it with the ribbon, in my personal power color. =)

Castellammare Designs wants to give one of you the piece of your choice! Just like I specifically chose this necklace in my favorite color, you'll be able to browse the items in her shop and choose the piece that relates to you best. Style Me Chic - Pretty Pleats

I finally have myself one of those swishy pleated skirts I've been seeing all over the place!

Shirt: Loft, Thrifted
Skirt: c/o Oasap (similar; cute option)

This skirt is perfect!! It's light and swishy and I adore the rich color. I should have attempted a twirl for you because it is the perfect twirly skirt!

Instead, I stuck with my tried and true blogger poses. =)

Shoes: Nine West, TJMaxx

I got these shoes on sale last fall and I still love them!

Multi-colored Stacking Ring & Silver Bracelet: Premier Design Jewelry
Watch, Big Silver Ring & Necklace: Target
Belt: TJMaxx

When I first received this skirt, I was unsure how to style it. It has an elastic waist, so if I'm going to tuck in a shirt, then I think it looks best belted... So, here's my question for you! Give me some ideas. How else would you style this skirt?

It's the last day to enter my my Road ID giveaway!! Hurry up and get your entry in! I'll announce the winner tomorrow. =)

**This is a sponsored post. I received a skirt from Oasap to style, but all opinions are totally honest and 100% mine!

Gone Country

** Warning!!! Picture Heavy Post Ahead! =) **
You want to know something crazy??  See this cute little dress right here?

Dress: Loft Outlet (I love Destin's Outlet Mall!!)
Tank: Target
Sandals: Boutique in New Orleans

It went from a Friday at the office in the city (or at least a suburb of a beach town) . . .

To the hills of Alabama where I . . . SHOT A GUN!!

I am 100% a city girl, y'all. Okay, yes, I just said "y'all" which is totally country, but in the south "y'all" isn't country. It's just the way we talk.  Anyways, my hobbies include having coffee at Starbucks, going to Target just to browse, dropping in TJMaxx to see what's on sale, and my newest obsession which is running. =) The Husband is into watching movies, solving his rubics, doing stuff I don't understand on his MacBook Pro and training for the Ironman.  Notice a little something? Neither one of us is a gun shooter. ;)

When in Rome, right?  Or I guess, in this case, when in Alabama . . . I wasn't half bad either! I got *this* close to hitting the bulls eye! And the Hubs hit the bulls eye on his first try! We city folk aren't so citified after all. ;)

Anyways, back to the things this blog is mostly all about... you know those silly superficial things like dresses and bracelets and posing all prettily.

I really love this dress! But I'm stuck on what else to do with it besides just adding different colored tank tops underneath. What would you suggest?

Necklace & Bracelet: Premier Designs Jewelry
Ring: Bealls (Thank you, Vickie!)

Heart Ring: Mimi Boutique
Hello Kitty Bandaid: Courtesy of my Little Miss

And that right there is just another shot of my super cute sandals that I love... that are not AT ALL cut out for traipsing around muddy fields!

So, inquiring minds want to know... are you a city girl or a country girl?

Have you entered my Road ID giveaway yet??

Turquoise, Denim & A Day with My Bestie

Do you see how I have sort of an eerie glow about me?

Shirt: LOFT, Thrifted
Tank: c/o Halftee
Skirt: NY&Co, Thrifted
Belt & Sandals: Target

I'm not an angel, really I'm not. It's just that the humidity fogged up the camera lens again and I didn't catch it in time to take additional shots.

Remember how I mentioned that I was spending a beach day with my bestie yesterday. It was divine! The day was perfectly beautiful. My bestie lives in Texas now and we only see each other once in a blue moon. Because we both work and have kids, it's really hard to find time to even catch up on the phone.

I picked her up at 8:30 yesterday morning and didn't drop her back off at her aunt's house until almost 5:00. Do you want to know something crazy? I don't think there was a single moment of silence the entire time we were together. We picked up right where we left off and chatted about every little thing in our lives until I was forced to leave her because real life needed us to come back.

Watch & Big Silver Ring: Target
Silver Bracelet: Premier Designs
Stackable Rings & Smaller Silver Ring: Premier Designs
Pink Band: RoadID (which I can't wait to tell you more about next week!)

Do any of you live far away from your best friends?  How do you survive between visits?

Black Gingham

I've been hunting for a gingham shirt in another color ever since I got my red gingham shirt a while back. I always felt limited with the red gingham. Every time I wore it, I couldn't help but feel like a table cloth at a 4th of July picnic. =)

Black Gingham Shirt: Brand unknown, thrifted
Green skirt: Loft, Thrifted
Sandals, Skinny Belt & Wrist Wrap: Target

When I saw this black gingham shirt at the thrift store last week, I snatched it right up! I feel like the possibilities are endless with this baby.  I could tuck it into a bright pencil skirt, half tuck it with my turquoise jeans, wear it over a sundress... I could even play with pattern mixing with it.

It is, at the moment, right up there with my chambray shirt, on my "Favorite Thrifted Items" list. =)

Do you have a favorite item that you thrifted or scored on a clearance rack?

Me & My Chambray Shirt

I have something to confess, y'all. My Chambray Shirt and I kind of having a little something going on. I don't know if it's true love that will last forever, or only a little crush, but I kind of want to wear it all. The. Time.

Here are the ways I've worn it in the past few weeks.

It's just such a versatile piece.  I would go so far as to say that your wardrobe isn't complete without one!

Chambray Shirt: Gap, Thrifted ($4)
Skirt: LOFT, Thrifted ($4)
Shoes: Shoedazzle ($20)
Belt ($4) & Bracelet ($4): Target

Okay, I admit it. I think it just may be true love. =)

Do y'all remember a week or so ago when I asked you to pretty please go vote for me in the April M Jewelry Style Contest? (Huh, I just realized I was wearing a very similar outfit that day.) Well, I won and received the beautiful Carolina Garcia Copper Necklace in the mail!!

Necklace: won in contest April M Jewelry

It arrived earlier this week after an incredibly long day at the office.

The cute packaging and sweet note immediately brightened up my day!

The necklace itself is a beautiful piece of jewelry.  It has a nice weight to it and feels like a piece that will last forever! Even with two kids pawing at me all the time. ;)  Thank you, April M Jewelry, for such a beautiful necklace!!

Colorful

Yesterday was a rainy day and I was sleep deprived, so I did what I always do in that situation. I just kept piling on colors until I cheered up. =)

Chambray Sleeveless Shirt: Thrifted ($3, similar here and here)
Green Skirt: Loft, Thrifted ($3.50, similar here and here... sorry I couldn't find any longer ones)
Yellow wedge sandals: Cato (Gift from my aunt, Thanks Aunt Jannie!! similar here and here)

Green, blue, yellow, pink . . . All I really need is another color or two and I'd look similar to a rainbow in a blue sky.

Necklace: Target ($10, I think... similar here and here)
Pink wrist wrap: Target ($7, similar here)
Leather & chain link bracelet: Gift, similar here)

It did the trick and even helped to push the clouds away, because by noon, it was sunny! Of course, that could just be Florida's fickle weather for you. ;)

Hey, I have a quick favor to ask of you... would you mind voting for my picture in a style contest, please, pretty please?  All you have to do is go to April M Jewelry and like their facebook page.  Then just like my photo on their page... It's currently the second one down. It's the picture of the outfit I posted yesterday with the lace vest.  Thanks, girls!! Y'all are the best! =)

What do you tend to do when it's gloomy out? Do you dress in brighter colors to counteract the gloominess or do you embrace it and dress in neutral shades?
