Teacher Style: Stripedy Stripes

We've begun preplanning this week, which means that not only do I get to meet my students at the end of the week, but I also get to start wearing real clothes and shed my "mom uniform" until the weekend. ;) Let me tell ya, I'm pretty excited that I get to dress up a bit more that I have in a while!

As school begins, I'll be getting busier and busier. I'm going to attempt a bit of a schedule and blog on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Sundays, you'll get a little bit of church style, along with an inspirational post if I'm feeling at all inspirational. I mean, I know I'm not all that eloquent, but if I'm feeling it, I'll post it.  On Wednesdays, we'll get a bit of teacher style and I'll share my teacher looks, along with any students stories I may have to share. Aaah, I can't wait for the student stories! I love those kids.  And then on Fridays, I'll share a weekend look with a story or two from my real kids... you know, the ones I gave birth too? Yeah, so that'll be the schedule for the next little bit.  And with that, let me give you my teachery looks for this week.

Church Style: Floral Blazer

Who's going back to school already?  Pre-planning starts tomorrow! My room is about ready. I have a few things to print at Office Depot tomorrow, laminate and put on the walls... but then I can devote the rest of the week to planning. I'm so excited about coming into this year so much better prepared! I'm eager to meet my kids this year and get to know them.  Teaching must never get old because you get to start with a new group of kids every year!

I wore this little dress that I've worn quite a few times this summer with my new floral blazer to church this morning. You guys.  I'm so bored with this rambling. Seriously, how is it that I haven't even started teaching yet and my brain is already too dead to come up with anything worthwhile for you.  As my three-year old would say, "Too well." As in, Oh well. Too bad. You get what you get.

I love you, TJMaxx, I really do. But these wedges are a little bit hideous. I had no idea they were so clunky and unattractive until this very moment. Eesh.

Excitement is in the air...

Or at least around me and any other newish teacher, it is. It's that time of year when we start spending more time in our classrooms and start getting all kinds of excited about the upcoming school year! Or, if you wish summer lasted just a bit longer, then I guess it's that time of year when you are trying to deny that school starts in a few weeks and the only thing in the air around you is the sound of your sobs as you come to grips with the end of summer.

Okay, all that being said to say that I've been spending the week in my classroom . . . with my kids. And you know what? They've actually been quite the little helpers. Yep, they've distributed textbooks, held open doors and just generally entertained anyone who was in a 300-yard radius of their lovely voices.  And my classroom is shaping up, if I must say so myself.

Thanks to Third Grade Thoughts, I have a behavior management plan that I think will be successful, 7 habits of happy kids that I plan to implement on Day One, some excellent classroom rules, formative assessment bookmarks... Yeah, pretty much, this teacher and her cute blog are going to make me successful this year. ;)

Now while I've been busy hanging up posters, printing signs, distributing textbooks and organizing my classroom... this is what I wore. Or something similar. No fancy pants going on over here these days...

When my hair starts to get to this length, I think it looks so much better at an angle. Maybe I should just walk around looking down at my feet until it grows enough that I can cut it like this.

I have to spend a bit more time at the school tomorrow morning, but I plan to spend the entire afternoon and all day on Friday simply enjoying my last few days of summer break. While I'm incredibly excited to begin my second year teaching, I also want to soak up these special days with my babies!

Snack Attack

Can you believe that the first day of school is just around the corner? I am astonished at how quickly this summer has flown by.  As I gear up for my second year of teaching, I'm also gearing up for my Little Guy to begin kindergarten. *sigh*

What is it that most moms struggle with during the school year?  Coming up with healthy lunch and snack ideas for their kids! Who am I kidding?  Even as a teacher, I'll often race out of the door with a package of Pop-tarts and a soda as my only sustenance for the day.  Well, if you have that problem, too, let me tell you that eMeals is here to rescue you!

With all new subscriptions, eMeals is offering you a 31-Day Snack Calendar. That's an entire month of healthy snacks like this cute, clever and incredibly simple snack.

Sugar Cone Crunch

Simply fill up a sugar cone with chopped apples, raisins and mini marshmallows. My kids would die for this. The mini marshmallows and cute cone will make it feel like a special treat and the apples and raisins keep it healthy.

Not only is eMeals offering you 31 days of healthy snacks, they also want to share a Back to School Survival Kit (for free!) that includes a Back to School checklist, printable lunch notes and a 1-week free trial of the eMeals lunch plan!  Check it out, friends, and let it make that first week of school a little bit easier.

While you're at it, go ahead and sign up for one of their many dinner plans and let eMeals make your menu (and grocery list!) every week.  You can even use the code SCHOOL15 to save 15% on any new purchase!  The first few weeks of school are incredibly stressful and busy for teachers and parents alike. If it weren't for eMeals, I have a feeling we'd survive on frozen pizza, take-out and mac-and-cheese. Since eMeals makes grocery shopping, meal planning and even cooking dinner simple, I get to pretend to be super mom and give my family a home-cooked meal nearly every night. I let them think I'm great, but really, it's just eMeals making life easier for me. ;)

How do you survive the first few weeks of school when you're struggling to get into a routine?

Keeping It Cool, Going Back to School

You want to know a secret about me? I could never be a rapper.  See that little title up there?  When I say that out loud, I try to say it with a sing songy, rapper rhythm and it just doesn't work. ;)

Okay, do you want to know something so incredibly exciting???  You're looking at a third grade math teacher!!!

For the first time ever, I'm going "back to school" this year in an entirely new way to me! I have so much to do in the next few weeks before school starts! I have to purchase supplies for my classroom, decorate the bulletin boards, arrange the desks, organize it . . . and that's only the beginning!

I also have to send out student welcome letters, and plan lessons and activities for the first few weeks of school.  Am I excited? Yep!  Am I nervous?  Yep! Am I overwhelmed?  Absolutely! lol

Speaking of going back to school, AT&T is currently hosting Back to School Sweepstakes and Deals! Each week from now to September 16th, AT&T is giving away a "must have" back-to-school device to five lucky winners! All you have to do is go here and enter your address to be entered to win.
